In the words of Bradley James, hello Merlin fans. ☺ If you've been watching my channel for some time, you may be surprised to see this video, because didn't I already make this? Yes, I did, coming up on two years ago, back when I didn't know what the hell I had gotten into with this whole vidding thing. Now that I sorta have my bearings, I've went back to my first few vids and thought that they needed to be revamped, and what a better place to start than with this one, featuring the song Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep based off the poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye.
After I first finished Merlin back in 2016, a few years after the show had already finished airing on December 24, 2012 (yes, that's why I'm posting this today), I saw some of my Merlin mutuals on tumblr circulating this poem as they related it to Arthur and how when he dies at Camlann, he's not truly gone, as he is the Once and Future King, destined to return once more when Albion's need is greatest. Well, flash forward a few years when I discovered this song by Leah based on that poem (the lyrics are slightly different, but the message is the same) and I thought why this is the perfect song for a video dedicated to Arthur and how he will always be with the characters of the show as well as the fans (as this fandom truly is immortal, now that we are here at the nine year anniversary of the finale, today, and still going strong). He is too great to ever truly die.
So that brings me to the story going on in this vid. I hope it's easy to follow and that my editing in this version makes the idea clearer than in the original. I'll leave a summary of what happens down below.
Anyway, I've probably talked enough at this point, but truly I want to thank everyone who has ever watched my videos. This video is dedicated to the Merlin fandom who has been the most welcoming fandom I have ever been graced to be a part of and for which I'm so thankful every single day. I love you guys. Thanks as always for watching! I hope you enjoy.
Jo ❤
Summary: Arthur dies at the battle of Camlann and the kingdom mourns his passing. But when Morgana, Gwen, and Merlin think they are about to move on, they start to see and hear Arthur everywhere they go, which causes them to wonder whether they are simply imagining things that are not there or whether Arthur has truly returned from the grave.
