The process of building a timber frame house, using traditional assembly techniques (and some chainsaws!). This project is for a cabin on a festival site, rather than a home to be lived in full time.
I wanted to capture a similar, relaxing feel to the Northmen videos, done by Scandinavian craftsmen.
This was done by a Canadian company, using techniques from both French and North American carpentry techniques. In french, the style is called "tenons mortaises", referring to the joinery used to hold together the pieces, the closest english translation being timber framing (although this isn't entirely accurate). The styles of traditional carpentry between countries differ in how they distribute the weight, and conceive the geometry for sturdiness and ease of assembly. Not all frames are created equal!
Music from Out of My Own Light by @LouiseBichan, a Scottish traditional violinist/fiddler. You can find the album on bandcamp at

Her other channel is @fiddlecam, where she posts videos of her playing lovely traditional tunes in front of beautiful landscapes all over the world.
