Great video! Not many people discussing using Citrus Solvent.

Thank you so much for this!! I picked up my first oil paints last week and really wanted an alternative to turpenoid, this is very helpful! It seems like a great option. Do you know if using too much of this will break down the bonds of the paint like turpenoid does?

Great question Emma, from what other painters have told me, there doesn't seem to be any issues with it. While it doesn't have petroleum in the product there is D-Limonene in it and I would still use ventilation and gloves. www.realmilkpaint.com/wp-content/uploads/SDS_RealMilkPaintCo_Citrus-Solvent_09-2017.pdf .

Thank you so much for this review. I'm looking into painting miniatures with oil paint and realized mineral spirits are hazardous. I am unsure if I can get my hands on this though, and I also unsure if mineral spirits in the small quantities i will use is okay healthwise.

Thanks! I totally understand wanting to paint safely. There is water mixable oils and they are a great alternative. My daughter uses those as she learns to paint. If you decide to go the route of using MilkPaint's Citrus Solvent, you can order directly from their site. It was fast shipping and I found they were easy to contact and ask questions. Have an awesome time painting!

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I do use the Real MilkPaint Co. Citrus Solvent to clean stubborn paint off brushes now, but have not used it inside my studio. I am currently revisiting Gamblin Solvent Free Liquid and Gel again and hope to post a video review. The citrus odor is, in my opinion, too strong to really use it in the studio for me, but haven't had problems when I do use it outdoors.

@@LiquidmethodMay I ask, since you are still using it as a brush cleaner, if it has had negative or positive effects on brush longevity?

@@lapislarka I am still using it as a brush cleaner, But not as a medium to paint with. It did a great job of getting paint off old brushes that students left dried paint on and it got them clean. I will be doing a video in the future with water soluble oils and discussing their pros and cons. Hope this helps!
