Join ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station for a special Creative Conversation event featuring Mingei International Museum's Creative Director, Patricia Cué and Graphic Designer, Elizabeth Martinez. The conversation will touch on Mingei’s Residency program and collaborations with ARTS DISTRICT during its time at Liberty Station with a focus on the importance of partnerships and successful collaborations with creatives. Details about the much anticipated reopening of the Museum in Balboa Park will also be shared in this lively discussion.

Patricia Cué | Creative Director
Patricia served on Mingei International Museum's Board of Trustees for eight years before becoming the Museum’s Creative Director last fall. She is a Professor Emeritus of Graphic Design at SDSU, where she taught for ten years.
Patricia completed her graphic design studies at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and at the Basel School of Design in Switzerland. Her work has been featured in Visible Language, Voice AIGA Cross-Cultural Design, TM Typographische Monatsblätter, and in the TV documentary series Sensacional de Diseño Mexicano. She recently art directed the Museum’s newest publication, Art of the World, Art of the People and is spearheading the identities for the Museum’s inaugural exhibitions. Patricia also serves on the advisory board and oversees San Diego Design Week and is involved in the San Diego/Tijuana bid for a World Design Capital in 2024.
Elizabeth Martinez | Graphic Designer
Elizabeth graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in graphic design while also taking classes and following her passion in metalwork. For over three years, Elizabeth has been visually communicating the Museum's brand through digital and print collateral. Her work ranges from creating exhibition identities, vectoring icons, designing layouts for education programs to designing Mingei’s quarterly member journal, Communiqué. Elizabeth has also been instrumental in developing the wayfinding system in the new Museum. In her spare time, she creates jewelry, pins and more for her Etsy store.
Andrew Waltz | Director of Programs at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station
The Panel discussion will be moderated by Andrew Waltz, NTC Foundation Director of Programs. NTC Foundation was established to renovate 26 historic buildings at the former Naval Training Center into a significant new flagship destination for arts, culture, and creativity. Now a burgeoning hub for life and culture, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station is a unique location filled with nearly 145 galleries, museums, artists, music groups, dance companies, makers, creators, and distinctive dining experiences.
