AT NOON, SATURDAY APRIL 27 ON THE PLAZA AT HARVARD, Professor Gregory Mankiw, economic adviser to Pres. George W. Bush and to Mitt Romney, and professor of economics at Harvard, will conduct the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. He will lead the River Charles Ensemble, one of Harvard's distinguished student chamber groups, with special guest appearances by John Lithgow '67 and the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Harvard's burlesque crossdressing student society.
"Mankiw: The Documentary" was created by student filmmaker Daniel Citron '16 in conjunction with Jack Megan, the director of the Office for the Arts at Harvard. The film is the culminating video series "ARTS FIRST 2013 AND MAESTRO MANKIW," celebrating the Beethoven event and ARTS FIRST, the university's annual celebration of student and faculty creativity. The festival takes place APRIL 25-28 at venues around the Harvard campus. Most events are free and all events are open to the public. For more information, download the ARTS FIRST app at the iTunes store, Google Play Store and at ofa.fas.harvard.edu/arts.
