He's a true artist, the best writer in Ireland. Too much of modern Irish literature is all about story-telling but little technical quality in the writing.

Exactly. There's a strange aversion to adornment in a lot of modern writing. It's like in the pursuit of vitality or concision they sacrifice that thing that makes the book a piece of art.

Precisely. It's funny how the novel relies for it's existence on words and yet authors are unwilling to explore to the best of their ability the beauty of language.

Narcissistic beyond belief,,inevitable when a writer tells his own story,,,with no dissident voices,Staging,,,or participating in,,,,literary festivals/prizes should be a criminal offence,, imagine Flann O Briens reaction ,I cant tell whether the American literary agent is real or fictional ,,I think the latter,, Thank God the novels have a life of their own
