I just ordered the Microbrute and drum brute from Sweetwater will I have to upload updates on these new analog machines? My hope is to sync them together to operate in time with eachother will this be a problem? Someone sugested to go into the Arturia Midi Control Center and change the Drumbrute's sync to "1 step"! Im not exactly sure what he meant by midi control center I wasnt really intending to use these instruments in cnjunction with a computor or use the factory beats. Im leaning a lot of new terms and trying to glean what I can so I can have some fun. Thanks, Dan Messenger

25 mini keys means I can get away from my gear (including 88 key master) and sit on the couch with my family and come up with something good enough to actually use. No laptop required. Presets? I have a Novation Nova. I change presets and sadly, the knobs aren't in the position that is producing this sound. So through trial and error I figure things out, by then the creativity is gone. Presets with the MB would mean motorizing every knob and slider. Not cheap. You do realise this is analog?

Your answer to a synth with cheap keys is to spend 300$ more on a synth with no keys? I get that the tetra has way more sonic possibilities, but if the brute does everything you need, why spend more?

I've had my microbrute for a little under a year, and for some reason, it sounds super gritty. I didn't use it much for a while, bit now it sounds terrible. Even a basic triangle wave sounds kind of terrible. Also, there is a clicking sound at the beginning of each note. I don't know if the synthesizer was damaged somehow. you made a pointless comment to start with. Not surprisingly, musicians in real situations use combinations of gear from different brands. This video, I believe, tries to show a hands-on demonstration of the product directed to musicians. Even the official Arturia videos are showing it in studios full of modular gear from Moog and other manufacturers, and also in a live situation with Korg keyboards.

1. Don't really care about the miniature keys (though not ideal, I agree). 2. Presets? This is pure analog... DSI machines have presets because half the machine is digital. You'd have to use flaky rotary encoders (like my DSI MEK where I find them frustrating) and then use extra software to smooth out any zippering. This is keeping it simple. 3. Is this your only keyboard? OK, then 25 keys is a serious limitation. Most people will have other keyboards, including a dedicated "master".

Hey mate I have an Akai MPX16 which is a sample player that reads from an SD card so you are independent from your PC. You can record the sounds you want directly to the inbuilt mic (or plug a better one in) and trim them or just put sounds and samples from your PC onto the SD card. Pads are touch sensitive so the volume of the sound can depend on how hard you hit the pad etc. It also has a little brother the MPX8 which is about $160 (AUD), which a friend has at a drama group he runs. Good little gadgets.

@polyneux74
10 жыл бұрын
I got the MiniBrute when it first came out but after about 6 months I sold it. Both the mini and the micro are nice synths but I just found myself getting annoyed with it. The "fifths" just don't sound like fifths too me, the "metal" and "brute" functions were the most annoying of all, and it seemed over-all just way too gritty. This is just my own opinion and I'm quite certain many synth players have a great time with it. I was thinking about the micro as it has the sequencer but after watching this video I think I'll pass. I should have gone with my original thought and purchased the Korg MS20 mini.
@gabrielallen3004
10 жыл бұрын
seeing as you have experience with the brute line, what synth would you recommend for a new synth user? the microbrute appealed to me because it has a large interface, its cheap, its easily transportable and the sound seems decent. I'm also considering the Alesis Micron and the Nord lead 2
@polyneux74
10 жыл бұрын
Gabe Allen The microbrute would be excellent for a first synth user. The Alesis Micron is a very versatile machine but, making your way through all the parameters to really get the most out of it can be horribly tedious. Everything is done through multiple menus and setting that must be viewed through a tiny LED screen. The Nord lead 2 are high end and great to play, less tedious to navigate but many of these synths suffer from the contact pads under the keys failing. This can be fixed however, it's just one more thing that you have to"deal" with. Both the Mini and Microbrutes are nice as there are no tiny menus to navigate and they are actual "true" analog whereas the other two mentioned are "virtual" analog. I think a microbrute would fit you just fine for your needs and it is a great way to introduce yourself to synthesizers. I will suggest to you that you always want to do as much research as possible before you buy. Check all the pros and cons of the machines you're interested in. The best reviews are ones that are not sponsored by the manufacture. Good luck to you!
