Q23 D (23:40) is not the option because the question asked what do chromosomes do in MITOSIS cell cycle? and well replication occurs in the S phase so I think that y it isnt the option.

Yep! You're right. They stated that DNA replicates during mitosis. DNA actually replicates during the S phase of interphase, which is part of the mitotic cell cycle, but not mitosis. So it's incorrect. Thanks for pointing that out. Totally slipped my mind during the video.

in 29:50 i dont understand how 2 is correct becaus water passes thru pits within vessel elements however lignin are made out of dead cells it would not be permeable to water??? can u pls explain

i think the key term in that question is that it asked about water passing through walls *containing* lignin. ofc, lignin is hydrophobic and water shouldn't pass through, but the question didn't specify that the water will pass *through* the lignified parts of the cell wall. if that was the case, it wouldn't pass through. but does water pass through cell walls that contain lignin? yes, just not through the lignin.

Hey! Sorry I couldn't reply yesterday. I was busy with my exams :( So let me clarify. There are a few variations. If they ask water passes through lignin, that is wrong as water can't directly pass through lignin as Bloop stated. On the other hand, Water does pass through cell walls containing lignin, because sometimes the lignin is deposited in rings/spirals. So there's a gap between the hydrophobic regions and water can pass through those! Hopefully it makes sense. I hope your exam went well!

Can u plz explain light mcq 400nm one? I cant get why hardly only nucleoli is visible?
@CAIEPapersSolved
2 жыл бұрын
Yes! So for visible light, at x400 magnification, the minimum wavelength (blue light) is 400 nm. According to the definition, resolution is half the minimum wavelength, that is 400/2 = 200 nm. So that means, we can see objects of at least 200nm diameter. Anything smaller than that will not be seen. Nucleoli have diameters of around 200-350 nm, thats why we can see those in the light microscope. But, cristae, grana and ribosomes all have diameter less than 200nm, so we can’t see them!

Hey! It might be a bit difficult since the Feb/March 2022 paper was quite challenging as well as paper 2 for the May June 2022 series. However, the threshold is going to be very low! Im predicting around 23-26 for an A. Good Luck!

Please explain 23 again. Why is D wrong? And shouldn't base be the smallest part that can be changed in 24? Thankyou!

Hey! Sorry I couldn't reply yesterday. I was busy with my exams :( At 23:20, in Q23, they stated that chromosomes replicate during mitosis. Chromosomes actually replicates during the S phase of interphase, which is part of the mitotic cell cycle, but not mitosis. So it's incorrect. Totally slipped my mind during the video. At 23:50, In Q24, I personally thought that it was gonna be base as well. But they consider nucleotide to be the correct answer. I really can't say why. Even in the syllabus they mention that a mutation is a change in DNA base sequence. It is also a change in the nucleotide sequence as well though. Weird MCQ
