Sometimes a piece is slowly carved out, one melodic sliver at a time, all the while hoping that you can find a way to get to what you want to hear. And other times, like the piece you're watching here, the notes rush out and all you can do is try to corral the flow to subtly influence the final direction. These dissonant and jumbled clusters of notes were urged on by the 24 hours of falling snow and sounds of downtown traffic outside my window.
Today I'm using Arturia's Piano V for the felted upright piano sound going into Vongon's Polyphrase, for a short delay and high pitch modulation to add some depth and warmth to the notes. From there we're back into Strymon's Big Sky Plate Reverb for some longer and darker resonance. Afterwards I recorded a light droning and noise with a Prophet-5 VST on top of some field recordings of downtown Salt Lake. Finally, a dash of Tape Mello-fi and RC-20 for drive and pitch wobble.
Hope you enjoy, and as always, thanks for stopping by!
