The comedy moments made this movie perfect. The romance is good, but the comedy makes it perfect. I always laugh after she pushes him down the hill, then realizes it's Wesley, so she rolls down the hill after him. She couldn't just run down the hill, no, she has to fling herself down this hill...LOL

This is my favorite movie. These have got to be some of the most romantic scenes ever made. He was a farm boy.Poor, poor and perfect, with eyes like the sea after a storm. That line gets me every time.

I remember this movie from my childhood in the 80s. Even though I'm getting older, I always wanted to roll down that hill with them. It might take me half a day to get up now, but I'd still do it.

@@user-pi3hd2bt3f the book and the movie are different beasts to a certain extent but worth noting that in the book it's stated very explicitly that Humperdinck threatened her into the engagement (could be remembering wrong but I think he threatens her parents?). Like not even the 'my love is dead I might as well be rich' thing which is vaguely implied in the movie.

Read Cary Elwes book about the making of this movie over the weekend. Very good, lots of funny, charming, and impressive stories to share. By his own description, he actually did have a crush on Robin Wright throughout the filming of this movie. If so, bravo-added to the performance immeasurably.

@SupernaturalLover67 Keep in mind, to Buttercup, not only was Wesley assuredly dead, but it had also been 5 years since she had last heard his voice. That's a really long time for someone to recognize a voice, that and that she was speaking to the person she believed killed him.
