Maybe use your imagination? 🤷 or just go get on a traverse and film it yourself. No one’s stopping you

Would've been nice to see you teach how to ascend a fall in free space while hanging in free space, instead of using the tree

You obviously don't understand the process if you think that's necessary. Maybe go find a tree and actually try it.

@Friendfox feel free to go film content while you're slowly rotating, because you can't stabilize yourself against anything in order to keep facing the camera. Kind of useless to make a video where the audience can't see what you're doing.

@@mitchellbaker4806don't know why this bothered you so much... I do understand the process, I've ascended both free hanging and with a wall to push off of. The mechanics of both are drastically different. The orientation of the leg in order to make progress while hanging in space is very different from how to do it with something to push off of. If you understood the mechanical differences between free hanging and non free hanging ascension I'm sure you would agree that a video meant to instruct beginners on how to ascend a free hang should be done in a free hang - this video misses a crucial component of body position that is required to make upward progress while hanging in space.

The people complaining about the tree dont understand the limitations of filming. When you hang in free space and a stiff breeze comes by and you start spinning, your shot is sort of ruined. I get it. It would be interesting to see you iterate through different versions of the same scenario using more basic or different variations.

Yep. And if you do it and dial it in on a tree it will work in free space. Same principles.

@@summitseekersexperiencetotally understand the struggle of trying to film something like that. Perhaps a stationary shot where you explain the process, then cut to a separate video of you actually ascending a few feet in free space, followed by a cut back to stationary conclusion. Hope my previous comment didn't come off as pretentious, I'm fully confident in your ability to ascend in space, just a friendly suggestion that it would be useful to show folks the mechanics of how your leg is positioned in free space as opposed to having something to push off of. Thanks for the great content!

When you're competing with the standard of production that is the norm on KZitem nowadays you need to be better. You could have done half a job years ago, but even climbing is getting saturated on this platform now, so be better or give up. Not to be mean or rude, but I wouldn't want you to waste your time when YT algorithms paired with peoples taste for highly produced content, is such a ruthless beast. YT channels like 'HowNotToo' and 'HardIsEasy' spend 1 hour production time for each MINUTE of final cut. So yeah, it's hard. You have competition that has set a higher standard than you seem to feel you are capable of. You're welcome, for the feedback. Hope you see it as constructive.

I was conservative, I think 'HowNotToo' recently said 100 hours per minute of final cut. But that felt too much, so I hedged my bet so to speak.

how to do this without a grigri? could you do more techniques with guide mode and a regular belay please? I love your videos but can't afford a gri gri
@michaelisaksson4488

You can achive the same system with an ATC style belay device. Just clip the guide ring to you harness and it will capture the progress the same way as a grigri, but with slightly more friction.

the price is only gonna get more and more inflated. I'd say buy now as it will last you a "lifetime" of climbing and won't degrade if you don't use it. Happy climbing ❤
