Congrats to you! I started following your journey almost a year ago (when I realized this was the career path I wanted for myself), and watching you achieve your goals is so inspiring to me! Still taking my pre-reqs for my MLS program and have a long way to go since I started from the very beginning with my basics last spring. But if all goes well I can be able to call myself an MLS by spring of 2025! But congrats again on your achievements! Can’t wait to see more content from you once you establish yourself in your new career!

@@muskahanify7649 Hello, I’m so sorry to hear that! I studied for my exam for 5 months which was the length of my clinicals! During that time I went back through all of my class notes that I made and I also used a few BOC books that she mentioned to practice questions. I used medialab heavily and I felt it was a good way to gauge if u really knew the information because the questions were more in depth than the actual test in my opinion. That pretty much sums up what I used. I’m not sure about the ASCP exam simulator due to our program providing us with media lab. I hope you’re able to figure out a routine and knock it out the park your next go round. ♥️

I started my clinical rotations 6 days ago! How I got here? I'm not so sure. Upon arriving at the lab on day 1, NOBODY knew that I was supposed to be there for clinicals, not even the supervisor! However, they adapted quickly and I've been getting along with the other personnel while I learned to process specimens this week. The problem is that I start chem rotations next week and know virtually nothing. In fact, I feel like I know absolutely nothing about ANY of the departments. No amount of reviewing has made me feel any better at all tbh. Is this a normal feeling? I don't wanna annoy any of the other techs, especially the older ones who clearly don't wanna be bothered. You have been a huge inspiration to me ever since I was a pre-nursing student looking for a change and was wondering if you had these difficulties, and in the case that you did, how you navigated them. I'm supposed to be up in 5 hours to leave to learn how to perform QC but I've been freaking out over starting the whole weekend, any advice is greatly appreciated!
@domilarae
Жыл бұрын
One week down friend! Your feelings are valid and I felt the same way when I went through rotations. They will teach you what you need to know for the clinical day to day responsibilities. Don’t worry too much about asking questions either, this is the time to ask!! As far as chemistry, some things I studied during rotations that may help you : how to interpret QC/LJ charts/QC troubleshooting steps. I wrote down all the testing panels and went home to review each analyte (methodology, norm/abnorm high/low values, disease correlations). I was shown daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance so I asked to read the operator manual/quick guides when things got busy. I also studied what analytes may be affected by pre analytical variables (hemolysis, lipemia, icterus, contamination, etc). Chemistry can be overwhelming! But if you take time each day to review what you saw at rotations and link it to what you studied in class, it makes things a little easier.

Hello dominique, i'll be taking this test in a little bit over two months. I have been studying from bottomline 5th edition, a little bit from the polansky cards and two days ago i purchased the labce exam simulator. i have been taking selected areas tests because i have not studied chem or micro, but i have been getting 50% to 70%, once i scored 40%. I feel a little bit discouraged because sometimes i get questions that i have no clue what the answer is. I know you said this in the video but would you please tell me if this same thing happened to you? also, i don't expect the ASCP BOC exam to be exactly the same, but how different can it be? since i have read that you were doing tests simulations for about 6 months and you even got repeated questions. I feel a bit scared and discouraged to be honest, it would mean the world to me to pass this exam in my first try. Love your videos!

Hi Cesar! As you take more practice questions, you’ll get more comfortable with how to answer questions and process of elimination/etc. Labce has alot of topics that might not be covered, especially if you take the selected area tests. I did alot of 100 question mock exams everyday for two weeks before I took the exam. I honestly feel like labce was way harder than the boc exam.
