The surname of this symphony written by the Danish composer Amerik (1843-1923) is fully deserved. For instance, the musical library IMSLP is full of composers without any interest and does not include a singke score from Amerik ! It is a very beautiful music, mainly melodic, well orchestrated. Amerik is absolutely unknown and it is a pity. We miss so beautiful works as this symphony. Thank you for posting.

A beautiful work..... Hamerik spent a chunk if his life in Baltimore and his music was greatly admired by Tchaikovsky. After Gade he was the best known Danish composer and it is sad he is not regularly in the repertoire, in the USA most of all.

The third movement reminds me of the slow movement from Richard Wagner’s Symphony in C, especially coming from the lower strings in the A minor key. Great music, thanks for uploading!

I really like this one - but you'll never hear it on KUSC-FM, even if you request it. All stations have a restricted playlist, even for requests. Good thing we have KZitem.

This is very attractive atmospheric music, somewhat reminiscent of Hamerik's Scandinavian contemporary Franz Berwald.

Another Great unknown. How deprived I was with my puny music training. I was limited to the "Masters."

I know what you mean! There seem to be many 'unknowns' which I'm only just starting to discover, thanks to KZitem. Atterberg is one that sticks in my mind, especially his second symphony....

Ah, we have a good half-minute of listening to an episode of Beethoven's "Leonore Overture No.3, Op.72b" starting at 9:31. Wow.

Good stuff but more ads than usual -- can you imagine being at a concert and there are testosterone ads between each movement?
