Mike Brearly and kim Hughes, what superb sportsmen and gentlemen. It was close, of course given such great sides but such graciousness in victory and defeat. Awesome attitude both sides.

What a beautiful bowling action John Emburey had - brought out really well in slow-motion.

The Aussies couldn't chase 130 at Headingly or 150 at Edgebaston, got 130 in the first innings here but at 322 for 6 i was genuinely worried they would chase down 500. So relieved we won this one and didn't waste Botham's century.

The Old Trafford Test was a huge credit to both sides: the Aussies could have even won it. It's what Cricket is all about: detrrmination ans skill. Thank-you!

The last day of this match shows the major difference between cricket 35-40 years ago and cricket today. Australia, as they lost wickets, got progressively slower in a desperate attempt to bat out the day - nowadays teams 7-8 wickets down would start to hit out hoping to put the pressure back on the fielding side. England bowled 75 overs in just over 4.5 hours (a bowling rate of 16.5 overs per hour - helped out by Emburey bowling quite a few overs at the end!)

Although not mentioned in the title, this video also contains highlights from the final day of the 6th Test at the Oval. Obviously it was a dead rubber but England were really under the cosh - 6 down not long after lunch chasing a nominal total. England secured the draw reasonably comfortably in the end you wonder if the current England generation would have done so.

Yes - after being out of the side all series, Mick Malone came in and bent the ball all over the place. The only Test he ever played, a little sadly.

@@douglasporter3865 Nah that was the 5th test of the 1977 Ashes! But yes Mick Malone was a true loss for Australia who deserved far more tests than he got. The highlights of the end of the video are the 6th test of the 1981 Ashes.
