All I can say is this is a good video and Thanks to the men and women that worked at this coke plant. I work at Middletowns coke plant so I know how this all goes. To those of you that have never had to step a foot near or on a battery dont talk because you have NO CLUE of what people endure on this hot job.

To any negative comments regarding steel and coke plants. We (steel makers) help build this country and keep its wheels going. We've supplied steel for most stuff you buy. Be thankful for what we do for you. If you don't like the pollution, move to another country. Try China. They virtually have 0 restrictions on pollution. Then come crawling back to the U.S.A. and be grateful.

Who says the coke industry is dead in the U.S.?! A completely new coke oven operation (2011) has recently opened in Granite City, IL just across from the United States Steel Granite City Works.

Just wanted to add one thing..I worked at the largest coke plant in the country..and it had to deal with epa all the time while chinese coke didnt..it cost $125 per ton to make coke in USA and China sold it here including shipping costs for $85 per ton...China has no EPA or OSHA type organizations..go live there if u hate coal/coke

anyone posting negative comments, do you own a car or anything else made primarily of steel? How do you think that steel gets produced? It is impossible to produce steel from iron ore without coke...oh maybe you have no idea how steel is made..it just appears out of thin air..
