I really love when the guy says Ashton’s autoimmune disease is why “he’s strong and resilient.” I have rheumatoid arthritis and was once in such a bad flare I never thought I’d get out of. Tried to go on a hike with friends and literally got told “stop complaining” ….all I did was ask to stop because I was so swollen I couldn’t go any further. So, instead of him treating Ashton like he was complaining- like so many people who are not ill tend to do to the sick- he let him speak his true feelings on his sickness and how it affected him. That’s really wonderful, and it’s something sick ppl need to do once in a while. It helps us realize that yes we are fighters, not complainers. If you can’t relate to such a serious illness then don’t be cruel and judge/ expect us to never say a word on it. We deserve to be heard, it’ll teach people who aren’t ill, to Truly be grateful for every ounce of good health

I was actually diagnosed with this disease about 2 years ago. The only difference is that it took about 6 years for the diagnosis. During that time I pretty much lost everything. My home, savings, business, friends, family you name it. Because of it's rarity not many doctors knew what to do or how to diagnose. Not to mention because it doesn't show up in most tests doctors typically thought I was over exaggerating or making it up. I'm still unable to draw disability due to the judges lack of knowledge of the disease. For the last 4 years I've been living in my mother's house completely unable to push forward in life due to the constant flare-ups. Next week I see a specialist who may have a solution. Not to say that Ashton didn't suffer quite a bit.. but I can only imagine how much easier my life would be if I had millions of dollars a team of competent doctors fans friends and family. I almost died countless times. Alone and shivering from fevers. Wish me luck!

I have just been diagnosed with vasculitis. Thanks to Mr Kutcher for speaking out and raising awareness. It sounds like he had a much tougher time with the disease than I have. @@Tata-iu3fy "We Are Stronger" A Poem by Steven F Gooden We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures. We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night. Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. Empathy is our superpower and what sets us apart as human beings from the rest of the animal world. It comes with responsibility though to act on using such an advanced attribute. I don’t think anybody deserves adequate systems to address health and wellness issues more than any other person on the planet. It shouldn’t matter whether someone has insurance or not, wealth or not, or power and fame, or whether they are living on the streets and have none of these things. As human beings we must provide to the best of our ability the services we can to give all those who prioritize and care about their health a chance to survive as long as their life permits them to and the will to live thrives. I’m glad Kutcher made it through this ordeal, since debilitating health issues escape no one. Just as I’d be happy if any average Joe of normal means survived a health crisis. Kutcher’s occupation as an actor was fortuitous and certainly he deserves whatever such a job allows, but acting is by no means the most altruistic or difficult job or the job most “deserving” of the best levels of treatment. Actors are paid well because they enjoy the spoils of setting their price on the market that they work in. If having more money equated to deserving better access to health, that would very often result in a very rich person who inherited their wealth or the very lucky lotto winner a very high standard of health care that would not often or always be a justifiable indicator of their level of deserves. Some folks certainly have earned their great wealth just as some have inevitably bore great responsibility for their struggle with poverty. A struggle which tells me she won’t ever dare face me I embracing their life of poverty.

It would be interesting to know which rare form of vasculitis he has. I had a near-death experience with a nasty type of vasulitis called Wegener's (aka Granulomatosis with Polyangitis), and it certainly brought life priorities into clear focus in my case. I thank Dr Fauci, who led research on immunosuppression treatments and making Wegener's non-fatal for most sufferers in the 70s and 80s. Before Fauci's work, the prognosis had been grim: near-guaranteed death. Well done to Ashton Kuchner for opening up. While people normally get into a stable or remission state, with the vasculitides there is usually a risk of relapse or a flare, so it is great to see people overcome adversity, and stay positive even though this risk still exists. I call it the "well o strength" because people in hospitals would perk in my room, all sorts of things because they couldn't understand "how" I survived...and with all the damage...for months. I am rolling my eyes so much. Sometimes, you just refuse to give in. You just can't. You fight because you don't know how to give in.

@@jackiemack8653 Try to think of 3 great memories when you wake up. Then 3 beautiful things about the day. Then 3 awesome things that made thst day better than your worst day, and think of 3 goals for the next day. Simple ones: get up, brush teeth, go to the store (whatever)...and do them as soon as you can. It accomplishes your set goals for the day and actually gives you a boost of dopamine if you wrote it down, had it on your phone and can check it off as done. It's a positivity technique to help you work on self talk. I have PTSD from when I was sick. I was the perfect patient, but I was positive I was going to die and my autopsy would reveal why I was so sick. Apparently a CT scan with contrast was all I needed all 26 ER visits with 6-8 hours of non-stop vomiting and retching every time I ate in the last 3 months. Had some swelling in my spine, lost my right fallopian tube, had abscesses scrapped off both ovaries twice in 3 months, had my appendix removed and had fistula-like lesions on all my organs, was asking & seeing a doctor/specialists/radiologist technicians for 9 months to figure out why I physically wouldn't be able to swallow food after a 5th bite. I wouldn't be able to eat anything else either. 5 years & 4 major surgeries and it's definitely Crohns. After my last surgery, I hurt physically everywhere and it never went away. A year later, Fibromyalgia. About 7 years later & my poor gastroenterologist (who is a great doctor and cares about my life...I have his cell number because I was accidentally called from it, I asked if he wanted me to delete it because doctors want to be at home when they are at home...he's cool with it because I only called once in 12 years when I had a Crohns flare and needed a taper of prednisone). He was almost about to cry when he told me I have Primary Scerlosing Cholangitis which in my case will be fatal. Here's the other secret. Sometimes the life we are living has nothing to do with us. Sometimes you are living for someone else.... Until you're ready to live for yourself... If you ever get that chance.

Oh no Andi. I will pray hard for you not to endure anymore suffering. You have endured enough. I feel ashamed that I don't have your strength and positivity. I do suffer from PTSD also but for other reasons. I hope some day we will meet. You sound very special and blessed. 💘

It’s a terrible disease. I have it and my son has it. I got really sick a few years back and lost my breath. Couldn’t breath, couldn’t eat, nothing. They chalked it up to asthma and gave me an inhaler and sent me on my way. The inhaler didn’t work. Went back now with massive kidney infection and got told I should wash down there better, they constantly tellin’ me it should burn when I pee. Told them no. They finally ran tests, it came back that I had a massive infection in BOTH kidneys, going into failure from a damn SODA I drank a few days prior and since I can’t process sugar, my body went into overload and it ran from there. Results came back that I had autoimmune disease and the symptoms can mimic other known diseases but it doesn’t help if you try to treat them as such. Got a bunch of antibiotics and steroid shots and became healthy as a horse. Sad news is that I can’t get sick or my body will shut down and everything else will follow behind. Have to monitor my diet, drink TONS of water and exercise. It’s tiring. ALSO, anyone suffering from this disease, be sure to let your doctor know or anyone who is in the medical field so that you won’t be misdiagnosed and improperly medicated.

The disease is vasculitis. There are different types. I have it and know it will kill me. Drugs for it lower your immune system causing infection. I am already prone to infection so I am just on a steroid. I can't walk. My eyes ears and skin are affected. Look up actor Harold Ramis of Ghostbusters fame. He died 8 years ago from vasculitis.

There are no vaccines for autoimmune disorders. Currently there are no known cures for autoimmune disorders. Some resolve themselves as the body corrects this on it's own; in most cases, medication can be used to reduce or control symptoms. To date no vaccines are known to cause any autoimmune diseases.
