From the Best Buddies' Inclusive Conversations series.
Last month, Best Buddies was proud to recognize Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, also known as Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI). Observed annually in May, AANHPI Heritage Month is a time to reflect upon and celebrate the continued contributions, cultures, and rich heritage of the AANHPI community in our nation's history. To celebrate, we're highlighting a few members of our community who are working to make the world more inclusive! Ho'opi'okalani Balaz, Best Buddies Ambassador, and Elizabeth Mahoe, Program Supervisor of Hawai'i, met with Joseph Canty, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, to discuss their heritage and experiences with Best Buddies. The group also discussed ways that Best Buddies can support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities identifying as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.
