There is a book that is designed for tweens/teens (but also enjoyable by adults): "Torn Apart: The Internment Diary of Mary Kobayashi" written by Susan Aihoshi. It's part of the "Dear Canada" series of books that deal with Canadian history and the discrimination of certain races/ethnic groups. Another is "Dear Canada: An Ocean Apart: The Gold Mountain Diary of Chin Mei-Ling, Vancouver, British Columbia, 1922". These books are written in a diary format. Your local library likely has these in their collection. There is much of Canadian history that was unjust and shameful. So be sure to know your Canadian history and let's all work towards an all-inclusive, non-racist Canadian society.
