i met john a few years ago at a meet and greet where he was signing kid gorgeous vinyls and the way i got into his comedy was through my ex. it was a really short-lived but fucking awful relationship but the only good thing to come out of it was that he introduced me to john's standup. i told john this while he was signing my record and when i said, "it was a bad relationship, he cheated on me" and all of that, john said, "fuck that guy. i was gonna write 'fuck that guy' on your vinyl but i don't to include him in this. how do you spell your name?" and i was so nervous and said "sandra, you know, like sandra bullock," and he laughed, shook his head, and wrote "to sandra, "like sandra bullock" and signed his name. he really is a gem of a human being. i come back to this video once in a while when i feel down about myself about a guy not liking me or whatever even though i'm a grown ass woman myself. anyways. the world needs more men like john mulaney.
@assholebyginger
3 жыл бұрын
Sandra you deserve so much better! As awful as that relationship is I'm glad it was short, and you didn't waste decades on him. And if a guy doesn't like you, that's okay because you're an endearing, well-adjusted person and that will shine through to the right man when he comes along. Anyway, thank you for sharing that story. He sounds very charming.

@MommyOfZoeAndLiam

Janine Marie Same! Not only is he a very funny guy, but this was really touching that he seems to genuinely want to give the best advice he can in a kind and direct manner. Sometimes it's hard for comedians to stop and be serious because a lot of times the humor is a mechanism for hiding their own insecurities, but this is nice to see. His career has really been going great lately and I can see why if he can be both an actual caring decent human, and a hilarious comedy writer/performer. When I found out that he was the SNL writer who helped create Bill Hader's Stefon character, AND that he is responsible for all the times Bill almost broke character cracking up at last minute additions to the script on the cue cards, I knew John Mulaney would be one to watch. I'm really surprised they never moved him into the cast.

he's so genuine and kind to these girls writing in with questions, it's wonderful. it's so nice to see someone i really admire treat young women respectfully and non-condescendingly, especially when it would have been really easy to get a laugh out of making fun of them. i just appreciate him so much and i wish that everyone could be as kind and fantastic as him.
@MusicizmahQueenSBed4
6 жыл бұрын
I agree that he gave genuine and kind answers. I really liked that he told the person who made out with several people that it is okay to do that, and that she's not wrong. As long as she didn't end up hurting other people I don't think she did anything wrong and I think she should do it if it makes her happy and feel good. If it doesn't, and if she wishes she hadn't done it, then that's different. But, like John Mulaney was saying, she seems very strong, and she didn't really sound like she regretted it exactly, so I'm happy for her.
@craque_victor

it's amazing, because most comedians default to funnyman mode even when it's not really necessary for them to do so. John Mulaney is one of the best comedians out there and yet for this specific video he chose to reply in seriousness, but with a smile and warmth. he's truly special. I love John.

As usual, I'm late to the party. Some of John's self-deprecating humor revolves around his physical childish appearance. He's just poking fun at himself without stating that he put the tie on with the intention to look more like a grown man instead of a 12 y.o. boy or Asian lady, which depends on the haircut.
