When I learned of Grant's passing, it was a gut punch. Even as just a devoted Myth- busters fan, it was: "No, not Grant! He's too alive to be gone." I too, could feel Adam's flinch. It's comforting to know the persona we saw on the show was truly Grant. Thanks so much for sharing this anecdote, Adam.

Yes, "visceral" is the word. Someone I never met personally, that I knew so little about. And still, when I learned of his passing had a very real tightening of the chest. Some people are just that special. They leave their mark not only in our fleeting bit of history, but also in our hearts.

With the utmost respect to the friends, family, and loved ones of both Jessi and Grant, I think given the circumstances of the death of both, Grant's was a bit more tragic. With Jessi, even it sounds pithy or like a platitude, she at least went doing what she loved, and that hopefully brought some, no matter how small, amount of comfort to those she left behind. With Grant, it's such a random, unpredictable, largely unavoidable event that there's little you can even say about it. There's no lesson to be learned from his passing, if that makes any sense.

I'm in my 20s. My family was entirely obsessed with science. I later went on in life to study and work in politics. But doing everything through experimentation and the scientific method was instilled in me before I ever stepped onto a university campus. Mythbusters and obviously Grant Imahara were a huge part of that process. I distinctly remember in junior high-school they asked "who are your heroes?" And I literally drew pictures of the Mythbusters cast. Today the word hero is a huge word for me and its hard to put anyone in that category. But I'm glad my younger self saw the Myth Busters as heroes. Grant was a hero of comedy and creation and science for me. Still is. And it's devastating to realize that in life, there will come days that you will have to go on even without your heroes.

I was at the Royal Albert Hall with you at Michaels birthday celebration. It was an amazing night and was great to see you in the flesh, I never noticed that you forgot your lines, I think most people there were in awe of all the famous people especially you. Huge Mythbusters fan, you could have stood there all evening without saying anything and it would still have been a great night. Really wish you could revisit MB. Much love from England.

Still so hard to believe that out of the 6 of them, 2 are already gone :( Even Jamie and Adam are way too young to even be close, let alone the build team that’s already lost half its roster

Listening to songs all repeat for hours at end while hyperfocusing on a task all day and al night long? One of the most distinct adhd things, you’re an inspiration!

For the first question, the episode of Mythbusters that had the dead pigs in the car had to disturb the neighbors.

They tested firearms and explosives on a number of occasions, so yeah, the neighbors weren't very happy with them. There was a scene where Tory got yelled at because supposedly no one told the neighbor that they would be testing firearms.

Grant Imahara is sorely missed. Gone way too soon. Not even 50 years old. Absolutely terrible and incredibly tragic. RIP Grant

That blinking fast before because the eyes start burning. Then saying, "I miss him". Oof. I never truly knew Grant, but we shared many of the same passions. I felt like he was a kindred spirit. He touched my life and many others. I miss him too. 🥺

The Oil and the towel is Linseed oil and a cotton towel. I know it as "Masurian Towel", a way to start a delayed fire. You drench a cotton towel in a 50/50 mix of Linseed and turpentine, roll it up tightly and leave it to harden/dry out. It will oxidize itself to a temperature above 55°C, which is the flaming point of the oil mix, thus ignighting itself. Definitely never do this to anyone anywhere!
