I agree, why would anyone buy a hybrid? You are purchasing all the moving parts, maintenance and replacement of an ICE. Great video! Thanks to you both for the tour!

I agree, all those servicing costs for the ICE part of the car, just so expensive.

The initial cost of the EV is far greater than a hybrid. Therefore, the insurance cost is also greater.

Model C used to be my favorite Tesla and my dream car. And I remember the days when it would almost get as much attention as a Cybertruck, especially when an owner would open a falcon wing door , people would stop and gawk. I’m sure they probably still do these days. I used to call them the Model X’ secret weapons, cause you don’t realize they are on the car until they are opened. Big props to Bjorn Nyland and his 1000s of videos of his old Optimus Prime Model X.

For those looking for a 7 seater and don't want to shell out over $100k for an EV9, there are quite a few of these second hand. Prices mostly between $60k and $80k
@revirdkcalb

80k is way too much for a 5 year old model x. If I would have that kind of money, I would be tempted to pay the 100k for EV9.

People usually omit fuel cycle emmisions on ICE cars. A liter of petrol requires at least 700g CO2 to produce and get to your tank (diesel a little less). Australia's most popular Hybrid, the RAV4 Hybrid, actually emits closer to 150g CO2 per km when you add this to tailpipe emissions. This is almost never mentioned. Hybrids are no longer a pathway to emission targets. So keep up the EV interviews 😊

The net/net societal math... is more complicated than that. You need to account for CO2 production for electricity generation + transmission, as well as losses in transmission and voltage/rectification conversion. You also need to account for the total CO2 related to production of the vehicle. You also need to account for the number of BEV vs Hybrid vehicles that can be produced/supported/purchased in a given market. The argument about hybrids usually isn't "it's similar in CO2 usage to a BEV"... it's more about... Is having 5x hybrids on the road replacing 5x ICE cars better than having 1-2x BEVs on the road, replacing 1-2x ICE cars. There are also locations/markets/personas where a BEV doesn't work well. Such as people who do not live in homes/apartments/places where a BEV can charge overnight. A hybrid may work for a person who needs to drive to more remote places, or who doesn't have good charging infrastructure near them, but only needs to do that long/remote drive occasionally. So yes, hybrids are a bridge, but all current BEVs are too. All else equal, is a BEV lower net carbon than a Hybrid? Probably, yes. But they are complementary solutions, addressing different problems, not competing solutions.

Need more videos like this to remove all the anxieties people have when thinking of EVs. Unfortunately my friends are grumpy old men stuck in their ways ridiculing me for getting an EV. My EV is now the only car, other than my 04 WRX, that I truly enjoy driving. I was not expecting that to happen to me, almost a profound revelation😂

@UvinMeemaduma

Probably lost bit more if he measured it with accuracy. But lot of studies seems to show after 9% loss it plateaus and any further losses are negligible for the life of the battery. You have to remember eventhough you phone battery is technically the same as the EV, unlike your phone the EVs manage the battery temperature like an OCD maniac, that's why the degredation is so minimal and batteries end up lasting 600k km. I think it's more of an issue managing the BMS to be accurate over the years for daily driving.

My aunts Model S (essentially the same set up as the X) purchased in 2019 has lost around 100 kilometres of range.
