Ed, as an old flathead man (83 years old) I remember hearing that Canadian 59A's were made with more nickel in the casting. ???? I do know that we never had a block failure with them vs. the normal castings. I sure would like to go to my final reward with an answer if you know. Thanks for all your knowledge and the videos bringing back fond memories.

The myth of the high nickel small block Chevys may just be a myth but I believe it when you take those engines apart with high miles of the cylinder walls look like brand new yet I know the big block Chevy's that they say are high nickel some machine shops will actually charge more to both hone and bore because it's harder on the tooling and takes longer to cut

Just watched the Ford and Chrysler flathead videos. Can't wait seeing the continuation of the 230 built. Ed's generation is truly the Greatest Generation of humble thinkers and innovators like Smokey Yunik, Ed Iskenderian who's celebrating his 103rd birthday soon, Gene Winfield, Vic Edelbrock, Gale Banks to name a few.

We got cut short on ring pressure, we should say pressure between the top and second ring, many engines will hit a peak power and drop fast in power as rpm increase, but if you have a negative pressure between the rings by making the second ring gap larger than the top ring, you may hit a top power, but it will go flat and increase power for another five six hundred rpm and not loose power, stay blessed, God is good
