Sir, there is a statement of former british PM Clement Attlee to PB Chakravarti, former acting governer of Bengal, saying that the true reason for british leaving was the royal navy mutiny of 1946. This mutiny was due to the public trials of INA soldiers at red fort. The INA was defeated but these trials did have a role to play. Also, there is a clip of Dr.BR Ambedkar's interview to the BBC in 1956 saying that he believed the true reason for British leaving India was the activities of Netaji and INA.

When the public got to know about the trials they were in complete favour with INA.In fact with the help of immense public pressure the british raj were not able to hang the top generals of INA and also because of the trials there were several large scale mutinies within the british indian army which ultimately forced the british to leave the country because they were ruling our country because of the army and when that army stood up against their masters they had no choice but to leave .

#AskAbhijit The mainstream historians are saying that the nationalist historians are repeating the same trend which the colonial historians did in the past. ie whatever is written in the book is taken as a form of evidence without analysing properly. For eg the mention of river Saraswati in RV. What's your take on this sir?

INA did have contribution in a very subtle manner. They set up a certain example that created a cascading effect in British India army. British soldiers of Indian origin were no longer under control of their white masters. For. eg 1946 Naval mutiny. That shook the British foundation badly , especially after WW2. In a way INA achieved something that the Gadar revolution wanted to achieve back in 1914/15.
