I wish every teacher was like you. It sucks that with certain teachers when a student is acting out their reaction is "you're giving me a hard time" as opposed to "you're having a hard time." Teachers are so lowly valued in this country, which is why people with the right skills and characteristics to be teachers often find other jobs now. It's sad.

Thank you for teaching (substitute teaching does count)! I graduated college in 2019 with a degree in education and I'm currently a middle (public) school science teacher. I lived in the US as a kid, so I did pre-k there, then I did the rest of my "actual" schooling in Canada. Being able to express yourself without negative judgment for something as harmless as just liking playing with a toy is genuinely great for kids, helps them to grow up to be better, more accepting, adults. This means as long as the parents agree the teacher cant stop a kid from being rude and noisy in class... Its actually so dumb and the new generation will be greedy and rude AF becouse they dont have the strict grow up we had.

It s also very stupid of america because there are not many teachers, but instead of making education better they spend it on the army and roads. Some of my classmates spend a semester in america and they sad that they are so behind with everything, you learn Geographie in high school, we learnd that in kindergarden (litterly). And also math is 2 years behind EU education

Firefighters, teachers, paramedics, military, police. The public service sector is filled with people at the bottom who suffer from all the waste and corruption at the top. The teacher's union is widely recognized as the most corrupt and wasteful union in the country. They all but operate like the mob, with the leaders at the top living in huge homes while the people who do the actual work try to scrape by at the bottom. If you think teaching pays poorly, try serving in the military. It's even worse for the people at the bottom. The same goes for paramedics. My dad was a paramedic. He had to work a second job at a factory just to keep the bills paid. Meanwhile the people on city council and in the mayor's office are living practically in mansions. Taxes are raised, more money is supposedly spent on the paramedics and fire department, and yet you watch your dad continue to have to work a second job and drive an ambulance while a councilperson's home gets a third garage. I don't know, it sounds like you loved teaching, but I think you did good getting out of the public sector.
