The purring was such a nice surprise. My cat passed after Xmas, he was 14 and was also the last pet I had alive, it'll take a while to get over it. My mom stopped buying pots because they got too expensive; instead, she has been using plastic bottles (like the large water ones people buy for the office or cleaning products that come in bottles of 3 or 5 liters) that we shamelessly collect from bins (there are no individual bins here, you walk to a large one near your place, green one for organic and yellow for recyclable). Hugs from Brazil!

Anytime that I see a leaf on any plant start to die I always gently clip it off. When doing so, it allows the plant to start putting more energy into growing a newer healthier leaf at the top. And often, wherever you clipped the plant, it will grow a new stem/branch from that spot! Idk if anyone’s mentioned this yet but hopefully it helps!❤️🌿

For the dry avocado plant... trim the dry leaves so the plant can conserve its energy for the heathy remaining leaves. It’s more than likely just a little dehydrated. Be careful not to overwater. It otherwise looks healthy! I’m very glad you came up on my recommended! I love plants and ASMR. 💕

Currently I have 2 avocado plants, one is 3 years old the other is around 6 years old and one thing I’ve learned is that avocado plants like perlite in their soil, they’re small white pellets which aerate the soil and also help with draining. Some suggest you cut the plant in the middle of the stem to strengthen it as it grows but I’ve never done that and haven’t really had any issues

also! soil usually runs out of nutrients after about two years which is probably part of the reason your pilea babies aren’t as happy as usual. i imagine the plant might also be rootbound, especially if it’s pushing out growth at the bottom. i’d suggest a bigger pot, some fresh soil (though fertilizer can be good solution for a long while!), and also maybe a stake so the momma plant doesn’t snap in case it gets too top-heavy haha for your tradescantia - if you overwatered it, it might be that the roots rotted which stops the plant from taking in water and makes it look increasingly dry. this is common during colder months bc plants tend to stay moist longer so you don’t have to water as often. i’d check the roots :) if they look thin like little hairs of mushy then it’s rot and you can start over by propagating the plant. it might also just be the change in weather though also with your string of hearts babies, after you plant them back in soil you’re gonna want to keep them moist for them to adjust. so if you try it out again the future i’d make sure to spray the soil so the top stays moist edit: where is your sweater from? :0

Could the avocado leaves just be dying? Similarly to my basil plants in winter, they lose leaves and die off. But more always come. I've never grown an avo, but it could be a plant that prefers the water to be ran through the soil a few times in the sink and fully drained rather than into the pot where it sits? Just a few ideas :)
@hughs591

I would say the two dried out leaves of your Avocado plant have been caused by its being too near a heat source such as a radiator as the others look fine. NB, Avocado plants can be a bit frustrating because they just grow taller and taller in their quest to become trees !
@BehindTheMoons
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! But my avocado plant has been in the middle of my living room, away from any heat source so that cannot explain the dry leaves. That's a tough one to figure out!

@BehindTheMoons
3 жыл бұрын

Thank you for your feedback! I actually saw a video recently saying that it's best to keep decaying leaves onto the plant because what happens is that the plants takes back all the nutrients present in the decaying leaf, then you can let the leaf decay onto the soil to again keep all the nutrients possible. But I'm assuming that's not true for infested leaves (with parasites or bugs) or rotting leaves from excessive watering, I'm learning step by step too 😀
