I absolutely love how they decided for the main theme to draw upon Schachner’s work for Origins, rather than just defaulting to having Kyd back and using Ezio’s Family. It’s a fantastic sound that unites the franchise’s sound in really unique ways.

Son of Fjord, super awesome! The percussion with the melody-with synth in the background and atmosphere. The Well of Wyrd I like the vocal and sadness! Also the songs fits their names: Fjord is a big river with mountains...and Wyrd describes a fate.

Salut à tous ! Pour faire un premier point sur l'ensemble des 14 tracks disponibles, comme on s'y attendait pour l'instant c'est très bon, les compositeurs ont fait un super boulot y'a pas à dire. Mais il faut quand même analyser tout ça ... Le retour du Roi : Jesper Kyd ! Vraiment sa présence dans l'ost met corps à toute la bande son ... les musiques d'ambiance les plus marquantes viennent de lui. Mention spéciale à Out of the North, Kingdom of Wessex, Son of Fjord et The Well of Wyrd qui sont toutes magnifiques, on reconnait bien la pâte Jesper Kyd qui nous ai chère... mais son style a évolué. C'est globalement moins rythmé par des percussions comme on pouvait l'entendre plus dans les anciens AC, c'est plus symphoniques à mon sens. plus on les écoute plus on les apprécie. Jesper Kyd ne trahie pas ses anciennes oeuvres où il utilise toujours des voix lyriques, aériennes pour accentuer la corde sensible de tout joueur mais avec des instruments qui sonnent plus moyenâgeux ( des lyres, des guitares médiévales, violons etc... ) Holmgang est très réussie aussi mais dans un registre plus torturé, plus brouillon ( dans le bon sens du terme), plus nerveux, qui se voue pour les scènes de combats de groupes donc qui n'a pas la même ambition d'ambiance que les quatre autres. Déja avec ces 5 sons là on tient quelque chose dans cette OST à coup sûr. Sarah Schachner : Sans surprise, du talent et de l'efficacité On reste dans ce que sait fait Sarah, de très bonnes inspirations, une technique d'arrangement et de mixage des symphonies et mélodies toujours aussi entraînantes ... surtout dans le Main thème où sa päte est clairement identifiable. Elle a un réel talent pour l'épique-symphonique ça c'est sûr, on sent qu'elle a notamment beaucoup appris de Brian Tyler, le compositeur de AC4 BF avec qui elle a travaillé. Deux tracks retiennent particulièrement mon attention dans son travail, The Sceptred Isle et Odin's Plunder. Là elle arrive à se détacher un peu plus de son style habituel et s'inspire un peu plu de Jesper Kyd et c'est vraiment réussie. On retrouve les mêmes voies aériennes, lyrics dont Jesper a l'habitude de jouer mais avec une touche de chants chrétiens, c'est vraiment beau. Mais c'est vrai que l'on ressent plus les limites de son inspiration en l'écoutant, elle a du mal à faire durer ses mélodies, là où Jesper Kyd excelle...Ses tracks sont d'ailleurs les plus courtes de la bande son, ce qui fait qu'on a quand même du mal à avoir le temps de savourer son plaisir et c'est un peu dommage... Mais dans l'ensemble c'est très bon. Je dirai pas grand chose sur Einar Selvik qui fait un très bon boulot également, ses chants mêlés à ses instrus sont très entrainantes, les mélodies bien choisies, on se laisse monter en puissance avec ça, le dosage est bien toruver. Moi qui n'écoute pas souvent ce genre de musiques, je m'attendais à quelques chose d'un peu ...bourrin mais au final c'est beau, c'est fort, c'est viking, c'est bien rythmé et ça se mélange parfaitement aux autres compositions. J'imagine qu'en jeu ce sera d'autant plus agréable d'écouter ces musiques. Un point sur le Main Thème : Il est réussi, Sarah Schachner a imposé la plus grande partie de sa pâte sur cette composition, on voit bien les ressemblances avec le thème d'Origins par exemple. C'est épique, entraînant, la mélodie principale est intéressante, les arrangements de Jesper Kyd sont réussis ( percussions, cris de guerre en fonds), le tout monte en puissance jusqu'à l'apothéose avec le chant d'Eniar Selvik qui accompagne le tout parfaitement . Nottons tout de même que Out of The North aurait pu faire l'affaire aussi pour s'imposer en tant que thème principale mais il n'a été composé que par Jesper Kyd donc le main thème a le mérite d'avoir été une belle collaboration entre les trois compositeurs ! Globalement, après avoir pas mal écouté chacune de ces tracks, l'impression principale qui ressort est que l'association des trois compositeurs est très bonne chose, l'Ost est variée, riche, complète. On peut aussi retourner l'argument en se disant que c'est aussi plus difficilement cohérent... mais bon ça c'est affaire de goût de chacun, moi j'ai bien aimé ce mélange des genres même si évidemment on voit bien qu'ils ont travaillé avec la même idée en tête, de types de sons à faire... J'ai aussi le sentiment que Jesper Kyd aurait largement pu faire la BO tout seul, ça m'aurait parfaitement convenu au vu de ses tracks dans le jeu. Un dernier mot aussi, à la sortie de ces écoutes, j'ai senti une très grande inspiration du côté de Jérémy Soule, cette BO ressemble à celle de Skyrim dans son ambiance générale et c'est pas un mal ! Et vous, qu'est-ce que vous en pensez ?

C'etait vraiment un évaluation excellent, je suis d'accord avec tout. Au sujet de Jesper Kyd, j'adore que son style a évolu au fil des années. Comme tu a déjà dit, il a laissé derrière l'usage lourd des percussions, ce qui était très commun pendant les ACs classiques. Les thèmes de l'échappe, tels que 'Florence Escape,' 'Venice Escape' et 'The Brotherhood Escapes', des ACs 2 et Brotherhood, étaient des examples parfaits de son utilisation des percussions rapids pour invoker les idées de la vitesse et de la fuite. Mais maintenant, il semble que Sarah Schachner lui a appris comment à intégrer les sons plus lourds, plus graves, pour n'invoquer pas la rapidité d'une poursuite sur les toits, mais la gravité d'un histoire épique. De l'histoire soi-mème. Bien que les thèmes de Kyd ètaient fantastiques, ils ont manqué...l'échelle. Et bien que ceux de Schachner était épiques, ils ont manqué un niveaux certain de l'intensité. Mais avec le deux ensemble, je suis certain que Valhalla se trouvera rempli de la musique intense et épique. (Désolé, la français n'est pas ma première langue)

Il ne s'agit plus de courses poursuites tel un assassin mais d'un viking dès à présent et ça jesper l'a parfaitement compris. C'est là son talent, il arrive à retranscrire des situations avec sa musique et ça colle parfaitement !

Ciao. Sinceramente io spero di no. Si è parlato molto di come la cultura Norrena giocherà un ruolo quanto meno nel modo di comportarsi e pensare dei personaggi di Valhalla. Quindi questi rimandi continui alla mitologia (asgard, ma anche Wyrd ad esempio) credo siano solo il riflesso di questo. Se assassin's creed vuole giocare con i miti antichi dovrebbe farlo in maniera più sottile rispetto a quanto fatto in Odissey, almeno secondo me.

If any game doesn't use Ezio's Family theme it would probably be this one. Can't imagine Jesper Kyd would want to reuse his own work since he understands why he made that for the game he did. He'd probably see it as lazy and want to invent new stuff rather. If it does return it's probably out of being told it's the new theme when that shouldn't be the case. (I'm reposting this from the previous music video, since I believe it brings up interesting conversation.)

I doubt Jesper Kyd would reuse his own work like that unless contractually obligated. He would understand the setting and man (Ezio) it's made for. Never made sense to bring it back.
