After watching the GT40 win Le Mans in 1969, car designer Jacques Durand penned a miniature version called the Jidé. Using a little Renault R8 engine and a fiberglass body, the 640 kilo mid engined sports car accidentally became a competitive rally car during the early 70's, especially in the hands of Jean Ragnotti. Run in the same Group 4 category as the Alpine 1600, the car was far more expensive and only run by a few privateers before disappearing into the history books.
