During World War II, many women were forced to serve Japanese soldiers as sex slaves and domestic servants. They are also known as "comfort women". In 1991, three Korean women were the first to come out publicly about their experience, triggering an international response similar to the #metoo movement of today. While a vast majority of "comfort women" were Chinese and Koreans, some Filipinos were also subject to sexual slavery during the war. When the Filipino women stepped forward with their stories in the 1990s, they expected justice. They called themselves "lolas" or grandmothers, as many were in their 50s and 60s when they broke their silence. But to this day, some of these women - now in their 80s and 90s, say that they still have not received the justice they deserve. Barnaby Lo finds out why these women are still trying to raise awareness for their cause, and how time is running out for many of them.
