We had 2 of these at Askern and enjoyed watching them run.I have some pics of them that i sent to Astley green.😀

Yeah they've got to big compressors under the engine and a generator set outside to supply power to them

Hi Mark, afraid not the banging noise is partly the right hand high pressure cylinder piston rings bouncing along the cylinder bore due to lack of lubrication in that cylinder and also the corrliss rotary valves on all 4 cylinders not seating properly when air is applied to the valves upon admission to the cylinder, and therefore rattling slightly under steam they should very slightly float in the valve bores.

@@24681359David they spray oil in to the cylinders at the start of the day by compressed air but as far as I know not through out the day

what was such a machine used for? Electric production? workshop ?

It wound coal up the pit shaft and brought men up from the workings as well

@@HeritageVideosbyJSouthward Big thanks !!! My grandfather and my father were coal miners in France. My grandfather started as a horse guide at 12 years old to pull the wagons I would like to see such machines

@@clissonplage C'étaient eux qui faisaient marcher l'industrie, les trains etc. Quelle époque, mais quel fichu métier aussi. ** They were the ones who ran the industry, the trains and so on. What a time, but what a damn job too.
