I work at a medical office. About ten yrs ago, I had driven to the bank next door for change, and as I pulled back into our parking lot, my spidey car senses went off, and I noticed a black DB9 Volante parked close to the front of the lot. Of course, I had to know who owned it, so I scanned our lobby looking for a potential Aston owner. Noticed a fella standing beside our aquarium that seemed to have the swag to own one. I opened the lobby door and asked him if it was his. He said yes and I proceeded to tell him how beautiful and special it was. He immediately pulls the key out of his pocket and hands it over. The car had no gas, sitting on empty. I crank it up and drive around a few blocks w the top already down. Got to have a lil fun w it, even scared an old man walking down the street. That v12 sound on throttle and the way that car looked, I will never forget. I will always wonder if he made it to the gas station tho. Love those Astons...

I dont think the ancient infotainment system is a bad point, in a car like that, with the way it looks, the way it handles, the way it sounds, the whole driving experience, you don't want a giant screen distracting you & making the interior look more Tesla than Aston, you don't want everything touchscreen, swiping & prodding away, you want minimal screen size & plenty of physical buttons

Suddenly Autocar are making the best car reviews on yt?! Excellent work Richard and team and more like this please. This is the formula. No contrived silly storylines, no pointless skidding about, but still pushing the car within reason to formulate accurate opinions of it's dynamic behaviour. How refreshing! Another great Aston, my midlife celebration car is a current generation Vantage. One thing I must say to you Richard (and others) please don't treat our country lanes like a race track (7.04 mins in), you seemed to reserve your sensible driving to the wide main road. You never know what's around the next corner....granted you had a 'spotter', although not everywhere, but this more than 'spirited driving' encourages others less capable with all too often tragic outcomes. One more point, exhaust bypass systems should only be used on a track!

There is no denying that, while a little long in the tooth, it is still a beautiful design and it is clearly an awesome sprinter. While admittedly minor (and the gauge cluster looks befitting a vehicle of this caliber), it is really hard to get past the Atari looking infotainment hard plastic box. One could forgive the not fit into the dashboard look, because many still do it but why not stick an iPad there instead or do away with it all together? The Chiron has, This thing looks like it has 720 resolution. Acceptable for a Toyota but not at this price point. Such a pity for the send off (understood, why spend the money to design a new info screen but still...). Fire away....

Don’t get me wrong, yes the infotainment should be A LOT better for such an expensive luxury car - but i’d 100% choose an infotainment like this than when manufacturers lazily stick an iPad in the middle. PHYSICAL BUTTONS, PEOPLE!!! Touchscreens deserve no place in cars, unless they’re for passengers. Most of them look cheap and shitty too - even in other super expensive cars. Anything with a huge tablet to replace the infotainment (like the Mache E, new Mustang, any Tesla, or new S Class) is instantly undesirable to me. Also, haptic buttons - like in the purosangue.

I don’t know how much wheel travel it has but the front axel definitely has way to little! It can easily be seen from the outside, there’s simply no physical room for proper movements. At roughly 1 minute 23 seconds the car drives over a minor bump and it looks like the driver becomes airborne for a second for a split second. Since the 1930’s it has been known (Maurice Olley’s research) that the front axel has to be substantially softer sprung than rear axel for reduced pitching. I find it ridiculous that car companies use huge amounts of money in making cars with adaptive damping, independently sprung wheels, forged alloys etc. and then doesn’t even get the basics right. Who cares about suspension geometry when there’s no suspension movement? Happily I can’t afford this silly product. 😃 Greetings from Denmark.
