British luxury brand, Aston Martin, officially launched the new Vantage and DB11 Volante to the Australian market in 2018.
First launched globally late November 2017, the Vantage is a spectacular new Aston Martin sports car demanding a bold and distinctive design language. Pure, sculptural forms create an athletic, predatory stance, while the minimal front and rear overhangs, muscular flanks and broad haunches express the agility and dynamism inherent within the car. New head and tail lights form dramatic new signatures giving the Vantage unmistakable road presence and contribute to a strong and individual identity within the growing Aston Martin model range.
The model’s bold new look is intensified by its performance and dynamics. At the heart of the Vantage is Aston Martin’s potent new alloy, 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which is set low and as far back in the chassis as possible for optimal centre-of-gravity and perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The Vantage deploys its impressive power and torque to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph [100km/h] in 3.6 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 195mph [314km/h].
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, who is in Melbourne to celebrate the momentous occasion with local Aston Martin clientele, said: “The Vantage is stripped, raw and focused. With lines inspired by the DB10’s design language and the dramatic forms of the Aston Martin Vulcan, it’s a car that transforms the traditional exterior cues of an Aston Martin sports car as we redefine and grow the marque’s model range.
“DB11 Volante is pure elegance and style. Its magnificent beauty is complemented by its innate sporting ability and sensory engagement, to deliver a new dimension of open-top driving pleasure.”
DB11 Volante was first revealed worldwide in October 2017, and is the most elegant of Aston Martin convertibles. Joining the DB11 Coupe launched in 2016, the new DB11 Volante sets new standards of performance, innovation, engineering and style to create the definitive open-top Sports GT.
Powered by a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo 510PS V8 engine, the DB11 Volante is built around the all- new bonded aluminium structure first seen in the DB11 Coupe. Lighter and more rigid than the model it replaces, the DB11 Volante has been engineered to deliver a much broader envelope of abilities. Greater levels of performance and handling accentuate the more sporting side of its character, while increased refinement, comfort and interior space ensure it remains a consummate grand tourer.
This depth and breadth of ability is made possible by the Volante’s 3-stage powertrain and chassis modes. Working in perfect harmony with the 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, electric power steering and limited-slip differential with dynamic torque vectoring, the driver is able to configure the car’s responses and tailor its behaviour in a way that best suits the road, weather conditions or their mood.
The defining feature of the DB11 Volante is its convertible roof. Combining the timeless appeal of a fabric hood with the very latest acoustic and insulation materials, the all-new 8-layer roof cossets occupants from the extremes of weather and wind noise. Folding to a class-leading stack height, the Volante’s hood takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 to close and can be operated remotely from the key, or on the move at speeds of up to 31mph [50km/h] with a 31mph [50km/h] headwind.
Patrik Nilsson, President of Aston Martin in Asia Pacific, said: “We are thrilled to be here in Melbourne to celebrate the arrival of the new Vantage and DB11 Volante to Australian shores. We have already experienced significant interest from the Australian market in both vehicles, reaffirming the strong affinity for Aston Martin in Australia.”
