It's really not THAT bad, Judy. It's just that sometimes pilots just don't get enough training in rule #1: First, fly the aircraft. Take care.

Very interesting information David , today I learned something new. I have a question, in your professional experience, which seat are the "safest" in a commercial flight 🛫 or where is the least risk in the event of disaster? Thank you 👍🙂

Thanks for your comment, miritam3932. In my watching nearly 20 seasons now (of about 10 episodes each) of the Smithsonian Channel's "Air Disasters" series, I have seen situations in which only the people in the very back rows survived, others in which only the people over the wings survived, and still others where only the people in the front survived. My conclusion for this is you cannot predict where it's safest. Given how ultimately SAFE air travel is today, my advice to anyone would be an enthusiastic "Don't worry about it. Just pick the seats where you will get most joy and comfort out of the flight, and relax, knowing you will get there safely." That's what I'll do for any of my future flights - and this from someone with many thousands of hours at the controls of various aircraft. Take care.

I haven't flown since 1998 and hopefully I never will again.

Well, Machi, that's your choice, and I'd say whatever makes you comfortable is what you should do. As a pilot myself, I have no worries about the safety of air travel today. Good luck.
