This looks like an excellent beginner telescope, even with the added cost of the flattener or flattener/reducer! I have a Astro-Tech AT65EDQ 65mm f/6.5 ED quadruplet astrograph that is now discontinued (reportedly some production inconsistencies on some of those production models in the past) and it is AMAZING! I like Astro-tech products. I agree with prior comment below on background music, but you should be able to fix that in the post for your videos. Hope to see more from you! Subscribed!

Excellent video. I have the green version of the ED72mm doublet and the reducer. It works great. Some my fellow club members think I should’ve gotten a triple refractor but I think the doublet works just fine. The only thing I need for mine is a longer dove-tail to mount it to the scope and tripod like you have. I have trouble balancing mine with the small dove-tail that it came with.

I grabbed the celestron 10" universal dovetail for somewhere around $45 last year.

As a beginner, your video was easy to understand. I like your setup for using a DSLR. Your tips have been very beneficial. You have taken some amazing images, I am inspired to do even half as good. I will think seriously about a budget for this setup. What guided mount would you recommend? I have only used my new 10 inch Meade Lightbridge a few times. The last week has been cloudy skies at home in NSW Australia, I got to see some amazing close up details of our moon before the weather got bad. Itching to explore more.

The mount should be the most expensive part of your setup ( at least in the beginning) I have always recommended the iOptron 3200 Smart EQ PRO to new astrophotographers ($550 Current price). However if you can afford more, get more, the Skywatcher EQM35 is a great mount with double the payload as the Smart EQ PRO for $970 US, and the iOptron CEM26 is another great option for around $1100 US.

late here. great photos. I'm not into photography but I have owned 5 telescopes , learned my lessons. first, most important lesson - not mentioned - ( I saw your comment to a comment below. ) the TRIPOD. is the most important part. even if Ya have a $ 2000. optical tube, IF the tripod shakes, even just a little , the tube is rendered useless. so that's $1000. +. this makes the ' department store kits' total frauds. maybe Dept. store buyers (selectors ) don't know, but someone does. heck My Meade 102 mm computer controlled 'star navigator' has a shaky mount. for about $60. I built a plywood base ( looks like dobsonian, doesn't rotate. ). full 3/ 4 quality ply with reinforcing heavy duty angle irons at the corners.( key ). with a flat top to which the rotating part of the Meade unit is attached. presto. I also have an 8 inch Dob. which is too big ( I'm 73 ) and the lenses sticking out are very touchy / fragile. Should have gotten a much more moveable 6 inch. oh well.

Great comment, it is amazing what lower quality optics can do with a solid mount to rest on.

Nice review. And great pics!!!! I’m looking for a visual use refractor. Probably will go with a 100mm version. What do you think? Most likely need more aperture and focal length for visual.
@BudgetAstro
2 жыл бұрын
I believe the AT102ED would perform well for visual use. Having around 700mm focal length and a decent sized aperture, would give you good views of the moon and planets for sure ( with good eyepieces) I am not experienced enough to advise on deep sky observations though.

@@BudgetAstro yeah, I have a 10” dob for deep sky. So I’m good there. And finally put the money down for a set of Televues. Your remarks were what I was thinking. Probably what I’ll go with.

The music is very distracting and adds no value to this video. This is meant to be a positive criticism. Subscribed.

Thank you for the input, I will keep that in mind, I had tried to keep the music volume to a minimum to hopefully just add a level of ambiance to the sound track with no intentions of it being distracting.

You think this would be better for my Nikon DSLR than a Nikon 400mm lens? What Bortle zone were your images shot in? Thanks.
@BudgetAstro
2 жыл бұрын
1st question, absolutely, this telescope will provide you with sharper stars than a lens can provide, and will have less chromatic aberration as well. 2nd question, the photos provided in this video were primarily shot from my backyard, which is in a bortle 5-6.

Thanks for the video. How long does it take Astronomics to ship the scope to you after you order it?

I have ordered there several times, and every time I have ordered they shipped the product out next business day, as long as the item was in stock.

I am looking for a cheap 80ED. Most 80ED's come from all same factories. Are they any low priced? SVbony cost in europe still 600 euro for an ED. Anything around 300-500?
@BudgetAstro
2 жыл бұрын
The Astro-tech at80ed is a good option with the same glass as the at70ed, and the same field flattener is advertised to work with f7 refractors. The AT80ED is $399 and the field flattener is $139, so about 460 euros total. Hope this helps.
That's what I have and I have got some great images with the scope

So I have a Nikon d3500 would all the parts you used like the focal reducer and t-ring work? Or would I have to get other parts
@BudgetAstro
2 жыл бұрын
Yes your T-ring should thread directly to the focal reducer and the back spacing should be perfect the way it is, no extra parts should be required.

what type of t ring was used and can it work for the canon t6i
@BudgetAstro

Here is an amazon link to one, any t ring that advertises for canon EF should work though. Just remove the 1.25" nose piece from the t ring adapter. www.amazon.com/Solomark-Camera-Adapter-1-25inch-Telescope/dp/B00T4IRJPI/ref=sr_1_20?crid=1YBBFYASU92GQ&keywords=canon%2Bt%2Bring&qid=1664410092&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjM1IiwicXNhIjoiMi44OSIsInFzcCI6IjIuNzAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=canon%2Bt%2Brin%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-20&th=1
