GM experimented with .060 and even .080 plug gap.....trying to meet the ever tightening emissions standards of the time and it was a very bad idea....it kills coils and wires.... .035-.040 makes for a nice fat spark,that won't blow out under load

Back in the 90’s I would take the doghouse off and do it from the inside of the van. Always hated working on Astros and Safaris. Not nearly enough room!

i don't think i would be able to get my arms in that way this was definitely the hardest plugs & wires i've done .

Thanks for this video doing mine today ,drivers side two rear plugs left to go , this sucks lol. Raining today To wet to lay on the ground to reach up and unplug the rear two plug wires. 2004 AWD pain in the but not the same as on the 1995 that’s for sure. Great video cheers. I’ll get mine done another day when dry out.

I do not have the tools, or a lift, and cannot fit my arms in from the top. Nor, will my landlord let me even change my oil, here where l live. There is 5 parking spaces in the back, all have vehicles coming and going, during daylight, parked overnight. Hardly room to carry grocery bags in between them, in your arms, when coming back from the store, so doing it myself is not happening. Can you guys give me a ballpark estimate of what it would cost to have the GMC Shop do my 1997 Safari? Or, what you would charge if you were doing it? $800 with parts?

first you don't need a lift a jack & jack stands will do, it was $630.00 to get it done at a local shop you could buy the tools to do it for that.as far as a space some places will rent out space but i don't know where you live, but go to a local mechanic not the dealer that will cost a lot more.

Man, I did this the other day - It wasn't my first time so I was prepared for all the wire clips - I have 3" body spacers so it's a bit easier - I was glad to stumble upon your video because while doing mine I was saying that even without a body lift you can still do the plugs and wires from the wheel-wells and you proved it.... kzitem.info/news/bejne/tnpv242DhaCcpXY

Mike I preferred watching yours because my van is also lifted 5 inches so it tailors a little better towards the van. I do have a question for you, did you get any rough handling/ any type of shaking or anything like that when you lifted up your van? I’m getting awful handling, awful vibrations, every suspension and steering part is newly installed and it didn’t fix it. How was the ride feel after the install? Did you install anything else except the parts JOR supplied? They also sell bump stumps maybe I should get that. I’m 5 inches in the rear. 5 in the front. I’m running 3 inch coil spacers, and 2 inch subframe spacers, maybe that’s causing the coil to expand too much? I’m honestly thinking it was a bad decision to lift it all up at once. Now I don’t know which part is the issue. I should’ve gone 2 inches at a time.

@@blackbeard5688 just woke up - Don't know what coil spacers are - My van rides great, like a Cadillac - My rear end swayed too much with the stock rear springs so I ran the air bags on the rear for a while, then put s10 springs and coil-over shocks, now it's like riding on rails
