I hated the hdr on the aw3423dwf, even after the firware update. Returned it and ordered this. Hoping for a good experience. Plus the glossy film protector came damaged. I do prefer the matte honestly. My 4k 32uhd144 corsair is amazing for an ips panels

Got it today, beautiful monitor, my first OLED and HDR. Got 2 Problems so far. Is it better to connect with Displayport or HDMI? I hear alot about bandwith problems, which one is to prefer on desktop gaming? When i use the Windows HDR Setup tool, it says in Yellow "This Monitor don't support HDR?" what i'm doing wrong? Best regards

As covered in the review you may need to use DP for the full bandwidth and capabilities. Depends on your GPU, either connection may work fine. If you mean the "Windows HDR Calibration" app, you first need to enable HDR in Windows.

Hi guys, with the last firmware update they added the OLED Anti-Flicker, how does it work and what is it? Is good? Thanks :)

This is covered in our review of the XG27AQDMG. It just disables VRR if the refresh rate drops below a certain level and no LFC is used. It isn't really very useful in my view. People should try it and see for themselves if they like it.

Disabling VRR or limiting frame rate fluctuations (perhaps setting the screen to a lower refresh rate) are the options.

I want to bye it because it’s a bigger monitor and it have the same refresh rate and it’s a curved monitor The perfect upgrade Because right now I use a Samsung Odyssey G5 27 inch with a 240 hz refresh 1080p with a 1000R curve But I’m looking for a 1440p monitor with almost same specs but it’s a 34 inch and a 800R curve But the reason I shows this one is because of the benefits of a OLED With the color accuracy so right now I’m just trying to find out the best brightness and contrast settings for Fortnite and overwatch 2 and unreal engine 5 😅😂

It's pretty simple and covered in the video. You set brightness according to your own lighting environment and preferences. Contrast is set correctly and optimally by default so no reason to touch that.

@PCMonitors

Not generally, no. It makes very limited adjustments - have a go anyway and see how you find it, but don't feel you have to especially not on a monitor like this.

That game has a bit of a wonky HDR implementation, which is why I don't like using it for testing. Could just be that. You could try Windows HDR Calibration as well and see if that helps.

Hi. I have been using this monitor for a few weeks and when I’m gaming it seems to flicker. Also, I went on ASUS website for drivers, I understand the BIOS section, however, in the driver and tools, there’s a WHQL driver. I’m just wondering what it does and what it is and if that’ll fix the flickering? Thanks!
@PCMonitors

Refer to the review for information on 'VRR flickering'. This won't be fixed with any driver or BIOS update available on the website, it's inherent to OLED technology.

@@PCMonitors thanks for your reply. What exactly does the WHQL driver do on ASUS website? Just wondering. Also, what is ELMB? Is it the same as VRR and does it still flicker? Thanks again
@PCMonitors

Monitors don't require drivers and they shouldn't change the operation of the monitor. It might just bundle some sort of 'default' ICC profile for the monitor or change its name in Windows. ELMB is also covered in the review - kzitem.info/news/bejne/pnepxYGGkXOngGksi=i3uycmXgbF5Tm-9s&t=2803.

If you're viewing the Windows desktop, which is meant to be viewed in SDR, then yes that will look super weird under HDR. Proper HDR content shouldn't look weird, but it will also look very different to SDR (per the review).

Fringing issues are a known issue with these WOLED panels, mentioned in the review and covered in this article - pcmonitors.info/articles/qd-oled-and-woled-fringing-issues/. You might get used to it to some extent in time, but yes it's normal.

Got it today and plugged it on my DP cable where my old LG34" was connected. Now i have flickering in all games. I also did the firmware update already. Sometimes even my whole desktop isnt centered anymore. My clock and date are cutted as the whole desktop got moved a bit tho the left. Any ideas on all this ?
@PCMonitors
5 ай бұрын
The flickering could be 'VRR flickering' as described in the review. Does it persist if you disable VRR? The centering issue could be related to the 'Screen Move' feature, which shouldn't cut the image off (didn't on my unit) but may be depending on firmware. Try changing that setting or perhaps disabling it if it keeps on cutting off some of the screen.

@@PCMonitors thanks for you answer. I can try this, disabling moving screen and disabling vrr but the screen comes with vrr and i want to use it too. I paid for this. That would be bad if this is the flickering issue.

Hi PCMonitors ,it seems this monitor as hdmi 2.1 so better bandwith than DP 1.4. what do u think about it ? I have the PG27AQDM and when I use 1440p/10bits/240 Hz no DP 1.4 (no hdmi 2.1 on pg27aqdm , only 2.0) , I exceed the bandwith of DP 1.4 unfortunately (so DSC is used) and I have the black screen problem when alt-tab ( 5s black screen when alt-tabbing full screen games (DSC + nVidia)). I believed it would be better with an HDMI 2.1 monitor , what do u think about it ?

If you frequently alt + tab and want to avoid DSC, then yes HDMI 2.1 could be helpful.

@@xLuxSoldi3Rx You need to adjust according to your own preferences, as stated in the video. You may prefer higher brightness than the monitor can actually output, or you may prefer a different gamma mode for example.

@PCMonitors

No of course not, but I'm not clear why you would find things "colorless and dark" in game or why your IPS "did much better". The hardware here is more capable and the monitor doesn't care whether it's on the desktop (which you found fine) or a game, which suggests it's related to your preferences and expectation rather than the monitor outputting something incorrectly. Maybe your IPS model had a very wide gamut or you had it set up in a way that artificially boosted gamma or colours to your liking.
