came out awesome! I feel like you are the only youtuber that does balayage that is honest.. everyone else want to make it look like it is so easy and it is not! They do not mention at all, all the work and how hard it is to actually do the back. I just tried doing it today.

Thank you so much!! I try to be honest because I've done a diy balayage before after watching tutorials and it came out so horrible that I wore my hair in a bun for a whole week and then dyed my hair black 😂😂😂 hope yours turned out good!!

When it talks about not using metal they mean that you shouldn’t mix bleach in a metal bowl or with a metal whisk. You can totally use foils!

Guess I'm a little late to the game, ha! I'm itching to do this, but I have never bleached my hair at home. However, I cannot spend another $200 at a salon. Do you think this would be doable for a complete newbie? You make it look so easy, and I know better from giving myself haircuts at home lol!

It depends on how confident you feel!! I was a newbie doing this lol!! but I do think my comb is even easier for a newbie honestly because this method can start to look like ombre real quick if you're not careful! here's the link to that one if you haven't seen it! kzitem.info/news/bejne/p4Kn3aqnfHdppKQ

hi is this true... ? "Madison Reed's hair coloring products are not actually “free” of “harsh” ingredients, Moore alleges. She says that, while the products do not contain ammonia, they do contain a replacement ingredient called ethanolamine that is known to cause hair loss."

Thanks so much for doing this for us. Yours is the second video that I've watched with doing home balayage and I'm wondering why did you started 2 inches down from your scalp? This other person did the same thing. Maybe it's because it looks to fake if it's too close to the root? I don't know. I need to do more research before I do it on myself. Thanks again! Your hair looked really pretty. New subscriber.

It’s bc balayage is more of a “lived in” highlight. When you do balayage you don’t want to go all the way up to the root because your regrowth at the root with grow out in a straight line. This will cause you to have to retouch the highlights more often. If you blend it up and leave a little of your root showing, it has a much better look when it starts to grow out and is much less maintenance (and damage)

Deanndra Nunnery Yes, it does make sense. I've been dying my hair for a long time so it's, apparently, different from that process without the all over color. It's weird. I'll have to look around some more and see how people really look, I guess, before I'm truly comfortable doing it myself. Thanks a lot for responding in making this clearer for me. 👍🏼💜

Should i use heat to help the color process? My hair has very low porosity. How long does the color last for? Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
@DeanndraNunnery

Just make sure your bleach stays wet. If halfway through process time it’s not as light as you want you can try heat. This is bleach so it’s pretty permanent

Would it be possible to use this kit with your other technique with the highlighting comb? I like that their color is more natural and has less chemicals. But I don't trust myself to not make my head totally orange with their technique!

@Deanndra Nunnery - perhaps I missed this…how long did you leave the initial mixture on to process before the toner? I love how you used the foils, and am going to try that…😊 This turned out beautifully! My natural hair color is similar to yours…I tried another Madison Reed balayage kit several years ago (Palmi - warm honey) that was too light, and it didn’t give me the results I had hoped for…I recently decided to give it another go and selected Cool Toffee - After watching your experience with it, I have hope this will work on my hair, the second time around, using foils (I think I chose the lighter kit because of what you mentioned…your hair doesn’t lift/lighten easily - hence, the foil).🙏🏼😁 Also, I struggled with the wishbone applicator, but am going to try using a regular bowl/brush this time…hopefully it will work out! Wish me luck! Thanks for posting!!❤️

was your hair colored before applying this highlighting kit? I'm asking because my hair is colored dark brown and I want to use this kit but I'm not sure if it works...
@DeanndraNunnery
5 жыл бұрын
My hair was highlighted before this kit.. It should work because it’s bleach. Just make sure to wrap your hair in foils or plastic to keep it from drying. Bleach stops working when it dries!

I think I prefer the cap method bc there’s less room for mistakes. With this method I did notice some patches and unblended spots that I wasn’t loving. I never noticed that when I used the cap. Hope that helps!! ❤️

Just make sure to follow the directions on how to part your hair. From there make sure to blend the bleach really good so you don’t get any hot spots. I like to start in the middle of the strand that way I have room to make sure everything in blended really good. Good luck girly!! ❤️❤️

@DeanndraNunnery

“Balayage” is meant to have a root smudge look so it looks a little grown out. I’d say just get closer to the root than I did. I also have a hair playlist with many different techniques I’ve tried for highlights. Including one where I did my roots kzitem.info/door/PLzHAcQgcUQAzeixVC0Kp-poWK4j73GGzM

It came out lovely and the warm gone suits your skin gone very well.As someone who did a masters myself in design/ mechanical engineering I can't get over how stupid that wishbone tool is..I.mean the product comes out real!y thick & lumpy towards the middle & very little along the longer edges & then you're feathering the bleach with your fingers to blend it up the hair length..That kind of is supposed to be the whole point of the design of the tool ...looks like the product development team need a better tool..I'm impressed though at the amount of the vs included in that kid..Not sure if it's so!e here in the UK & if it is it will cost an arm & a leg lol ( a lot of ££ money) like E Salon products do here

It definitely takes a little bit of skill to do balayage at home. If you saw my highlights with a cap video, I didn’t apply the bleach all the way to the root so it did give a balayage affect. That was so much easier for me!
