BG: This is the one that I referenced has Money Mark, aka the "4th Beastie Boy", who helped produce and direct this song/video (he is the dude walking on the side of the road with the Area 51 sign just as an easter egg). No, and I mean no, two songs are remotely the same. So interesting, fresh, and they are beginning to blow up (they just headlined Comic Con in SD).

"Kosei ya Jiyuu de Hamidashiteiku". ("With individuality and freedom, I'm gonna stick out".) Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders (New School Leaders) began in 2015. They've been known internationally as "ATARASHII GAKKO!" (New School) since they signed with 88rising in early 2021. That's when I first started hearing about them. The single for 'NAINAINAI' was their worldwide debut. They are Suzuka (lead singer), Kanon, Rin and Mizyu. At 23 years old, Mizyu (with the twin-tails) is the oldest. Rin just recently turned 21, and Suzuka and Kanon are 20 years old. Many of their older songs have a Jazz fusion feel, especially the tracks created with H ZETTRIO. There's been more of a Hip-Hop influence on a lot of the more recent songs. The most recent EP, 'SNACKTIME' was produced by Money Mark, best known for his work with The Beastie Boys. 'Pineapple Kryptonite' was one of the singles from that EP.

Well done lol... I was thinking of giving him a précis of the group but then I saw you had done the hard work 👍I'd only add that they do their own choreography and that their songs are critique and commentary on contemporary youth culture - not fluffy pop songs 😜In that regard I group them with another young band, HANABIE. (花冷え。) who address similar issues (albeit in a slightly different style of music 🤣) 🤘♀♀🏳🌈

@@Sapphos_daughter That's a really great supplement. Not sure what part of the world you're in, but have you been able to catch them live? I drove up to Los Angeles for their show at the Roxy Theater in August.

@@rickwagner- I'm pleased you made the effort to see them live, I'm sure it was worth it - I'm envious lol. In answer to your question, no I haven't seen them live which has a lot to do with the "what part of the world" bit of your comment. I live in Australia 😵💫generally not a bad place to live but it sucks as a destination for international artists. Firstly there is the distance, time and cost of getting here, second is demographics - the total population of Australia is about 25.5 million, that's about 10 million less than California alone lol. I think the chances of 新しい学校のリーダーズ touring Australia are slim 😒 🤘♀♀🏳🌈

These girls have a video where they did it in one take....it's pretty cool. You have to watch it because when they are done with a video they'll leave you tired, great dance talent. Search for ATARASHII GAKKO! - Night Before the Exam (Single-take performance) ....it's badass!

The hip hop vibes you're picking up on are 100% intentional. Money Mark who produced a bunch of Beastie Boys tracks, produced this song and the girls themselves came up with the initial concept for the video while they were in California recording with Money Mark.

I got to see them a little over a month ago in SF. It sold out. They put on such a great show. The one with the glasses is Suzuka. She got right up and stood on the fan’s hand rail at stage front and let the fans hold her up supported while she sang. If you see them in concert, you will not regret it.

I am a metal fan, love J-Metal and ran into AG. Now I freaking love their work. They are funny, funny, inventive, crazy dancing and do incredible work with genres. I highly suggest the song Koi Geba, the mv is a different vibe being about a serious subject. The music is also quite a bit different but still great.
