Most of that list seemed like pretty obscure Stern titles, many I wasn't familiar with. However, one I was was Rescue. I played this game for months on end at a laundromat when I was probably 6 or 7. The game is a brilliant two stick shooter merged with a horizontal style shootumup with the added complexity of dropping down Choplifter-style to rescue survivors. With increasing stage difficulty, the whole package creates very dynamic gameplay years ahead of it's time. I played this competitively years later in my 20s on the MAME highscore tables placing in and out of the top 3, over several months, and consider myself a bit of an expert at this game. Thrilled to see it on the list.,

The same Berzerk machine at that same location was involved in a second death several years later. Two guys got into a scuffle apparently over money left on the bezel to reserve a game; they both got kicked out of Friar Tuck's and one ambushed and fatally stabbed the other not far from the place. NOTE: The stories about a Jeff Dailey dying while playing Berzerk are false. P.S. I wonder what happened to that particular machine? It would make for an interesting collectable...

Have you checked to see if _Atomic Castle_ plays on your Game Station Pro, or to see if/how _Dark Planet_ handles the backdrop since this acquisition and the release of the AGSP... ? I’d imagine a simple flat layer .jpg, or even a slightly polygonal shape that mimics the pictured surface beneath would work, with the pic as a texture, and some random game modder could pretty easily that variant to the original game. I suppose they’d pro’lly having to flip the game vertically, too, ‘cause I think the monitor reflected off a mirror through which the background showed, like _Space Invaders_ did (speaking of games Atari should buy, because most people still associate it with the Atari VCS 2600, as opposed to the Taito arcade machine or any Greatest Hits Collection, not to diss Taito, of course. Perhaps playing them on the AGSP and/or doing a deep dive into each of them could make a cool video (series)-to get people more familiar with the IP(s)-if you can maybe get permission from Atari (and sponsorship or even access to whatever archival stuff they might have (from Stern?) 40+ years ago would be awesome and really help the channel, I think) Maybe I just have the idea on the brain, righ’now, ‘cause I actually just got done rewatching your video about Atari signing with APA (great content, btw), their multi-platform media IP rep, wondering if you’d thought of doing “Let’s Plays” (Do they still call them that? Is that still a thing? I guess maybe I just don’t watch Twitch or Cinnemasacre very often, anymore... ) or other “live action” and “unscripted” content with Atari? Looking into these 12 arcade titles’ backgrounds-and perhaps the 10 M(attel) Network set of Atari-acquired games playing on your 2600+-could make for some great content - maybe even the carnival shooter game. 🥸

_Lost Tomb_ looks like a legit evolution of the Berserk formula, and there were too few. Do you know Shamus on the Vic 20? The final form of that game, also an evolution of Berserk, is on the GBC... with worse graphics than the Vic20, but more easily accessible in 2023.

For $5 or less, you can add the GBC version to your collection. Again: _worse_ graphics than the Vic 20, but nevertheless…@@GenXGrownUp

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. All of the titles shown here are arcade games. How Atari will use them and on what platforms they will be released is still unknown. I can tell you that the Atazrai 2600 Berzerk was already made available on the VCS store, though.

Hrm. That feels weird to me. 😀 Now, I'm all for adding cool titles to a package I already own, but these Stern games would feel out of place in that nearly-perfect stroll through Atari's history. Although, the 2600 Berzerk would seem right at home.
@twalchusky79

@@GenXGrownUp that's exactly the one I'm talking about. The 2600 version. If you knew how many hours I sunk into that game as a kid. I had like 25 games for Atari. Out of those 25 I sunk ALOTonly 3. Berserk, cosmic ark and demon attack. Occasionally E.T (don't judge 😂) but if you racked up time played I probably put more hours into Berserk then Elden Ring (seriously). So I'd welcome it back with open arms 😁

Sheesh Atari just couldn't break free from their 80s gaming reputation. It's like their only market is those folks who played those old games in the old days.

@@ronch550 Speaking as an old fuddy duddy myself, I see Atari exploring new ways to iterate on their existing IP (Atari 50, Recharged titles, licensing, acquisitions) to fund their restructuring. And also as a fuddy duddy who enjoys their existing IP, that's what I'm looking for.

Stern just got a new CEO. Looks like he’s a purely profit guy. That doesn’t bode well for customers. They’re gonna start nickel and dime’n their customers. My most recent Stern purchase, Rush Premium, had a slew of problems and issues that Stern has ignored. I was afraid to play it. Sold it and I’ll never buy another Stern.
