Atlanta Housing (AH), in partnership with the Georgia Historical Society and Emory University’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library, hosted a dedication ceremony unveiling Georgia Historical Markers at the former site of Techwood Homes that commemorate the creation of public housing in the United States.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Atlanta Housing and the Georgia Historical Society, and Emory University’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, & Rare Book Library hosted the dedication of the new Georgia Historical Marker for Tech wood Homes. The Tech wood Homes marker acknowledges the birthplace of public housing in the United States, conceptualized by developer Charles Palmer and completed in 1936 for white Atlantans until its integration in 1968.
