Apparently they've been watching them for weeks, and figured out who they are from the video camrea. They looked at the local high school year books and got a warrant for them. Huge case.

a bit of both. They could, but would the cops do anything about it when they have more important stuff to worry about. Best you can do is build a case against that person and if the store has LP people they can detain them if they come in again after building a case against them, then they can bring the police into the mix. It happens, it's the eternal struggle between store and stealing, LP associates and shoplifters. Like some strange symbiosis...

You know what is crazy? lol when the episode first aired, I went to the mall a week later and i entered to a shoe store. Two guys went in well one was like at least 19/20 and the other one at least 16/17 and they tried on some shoes to see how "it fits" and they ran off with them and left their old shoes there lol and no one went after them.

This is actually a thing, I worked at Nordstrom Rack and Nordstrom full line store and they told us in training that you cannot stop someone from stealing even when you see it, you report it to LP but their job is to report it to the police. If you stop someone with force, you and the company could face a law suite because as they always say, “the customer is right”
