Here is a design for an Atlantic proa (ama to leeward). It incorporates some new features including planing discs on the ama tips and a daggerboard which slides forward and back in a track allowing the helm to be balanced, instead of dual daggerboards which need to be balanced by raising and lowering. Unlike the Pacific proa which must have the mast step switched from 1 end of the boat to the other, this one just flips over during a shunt on a fixed but rotating mast. This one is only 16' long and has 1 sail. A longer version would have a schooner rig.
