This video was linked into our atpl study group by one of our students. After feeling quite confused at school with “conversion angle”-method etc, you really helped me to figure out the key to these polar stereographic questions! Thank you, keep up the good work!

The last question you did there can also be solved by a easy calculation, mnemonic being “gin’n tonic and top gear”, where gin and gear stands for grid, and tonic and top stands for true. The calculation will be like this: NH: G=T+W (or -E), T=G-W (or +E) SH: G=T-W (or +E), T=G+W (or -E) This way of calculating can solve many questions, and can save you a lot of time. Good luck everyone! And thanks to you Tom.

Hello, I know it is a bit late to respond. But I used his method and instead of protractor, I use basic geometry to calculate the angles.

Why does the East and West get switched when we are working with South pole?
@ATPLTips
3 жыл бұрын
Great question!!! In order to keep the N & S poles in their respective positions you have to swap the E & W. Try drawing the poles, the equator & anti meridian on an orange or something and see what happens when you look at each pole directly.
