Plug the m.2 NVMe to PCIe Riser adapter in place of the disk in the Steam Deck, and put the disk in the USB-C to m.2 NVMe adapter. Connect the monitor to an external graphics card.

im sure it needs to be usb 4 or tb3 or newer port, title is misleading maybe could have a question mark at the end otherwise seems like its an actual thing that works. ive still not got around to the jsaux goodies but im really tempted to wait until i can test it all at the same time. ive got a way i hope to use the peltier without the adhesive pad. ive seen another mod 18c less after with the backplate some paste, pads and peltier and big drop in fan speed to about 3200rpm instead of 6000rpm. how much less with that mod and jsaux fan combined could possibly hit 30c less would be crazy.

-17 to 18c was about where I was with a peltier with no thermal paste song can believe that. If you strap a vacuum cleaner to your steam deck your guaranteed to hit -30 lol

Maybe on the JSAUX backplate you can remove the perforated screen to lessen air resistance, then thermal glue a heatsink to the aluminum plate, then build like a shroud to cover it up, using the bottom intake port as your suction, so you don't need to include another fan, and you no longer have exposed metal to burn you. I still think you would benefit from including flat heatpipes to your design to spread the thermal load around. Keep up the mad scientist experiments. I don't even own a Steam Deck, but seeing how far the rabbithole goes as been a trip! Thank you!

Funny you say that, working on that design now, with an external M.2 port because this mod failed. Will be placing Heatsink on the guts because I'll have to ditch the heat shield. Only problem is the IC chips as its behind the M.2 adapter. Probably try using a copper shim and tie it with another heatsink.

I also saw eta prime doing his direct plugin gpu and he said it’s impossible to do it over usb c ?? Edit: ( 1 minute in) couldn’t you use the m.2 jsaux dock and hardwire a gpu into there instead of an ssd dock ? 👀👀👀
@Diy_Papi

I don’t thinks so, it’s a limitation with the usb c port. I have a small work around I’m working on to get the best of both worlds. Stay tuned!

Only if that connector on your laptop is thunder bolt or usb c 4.0. If not you will have to go through the m.2 port like I did

It can work you need to make your own driver for the gpu to be recognized over usb but that will take a lot of learning

If this had any chance of working... it would have to be usb-4. Intel supports egpu with tb3/4 amd usb4 (amd apu in the deck) not usb c only. They look the same physically
