If you do a lot of these look into getting your screws custom made. You can get any spec you want, plus you can add a self tapping tip. No need to pre drill anymore. Price works out to be less then any supplier if you buy in bulk.

@@woodbullyltd no I have used it a lot it very rarely moves and I like in Boston area...its a very dense wood bud it does not take in moisture at all ...thats why it's used outside .and especially on the width which u were on about ..I have been a finish carpenter for 30 years and used all kinds of wood ...teak is similar ot it ...which I use a lot for windows because of its dense ...cause it won't move ...so I don't know what kind of wood u are using but if it is moving as much as u say its not ipe bud...I have done a ton of decks with ipe and it never moves ...
@michaelgibbons6273

@@woodbullyltd I k.ow there is a cheeper ipe which is nowhere near as superior as good..where are u located are u in a very humid state...also ipe is very wet when first cut down so it has to be totally dried out properly once it's done that it shouldn't move at all ..but of course it will move a little in a very wet and humid terrain.but even then it should be not that noticeable...anyways it works great in Boston never have a problem with it moving whatsoever....and the reason it lasts so long is because it doesn't suck up water and is super hard...
