@erobwen
7 ай бұрын
The ending is even way better than you can imagine. It was in front of us the whole time! All of what Eren said to Armin was a lie! Eren tries tells us many times why he did the rumbling. It is all about Historia! Why do Eren get angry when Reinhart mentions Historia as a love interest? Why do Eren often have one on one conversations with Historia about personal matters, such as becoming pregnant? Why was Mikasa jealous of the two? Why did Eren choose the rumbling over just using Titan powers to fight the Marleans? Because a continued war would mean Historia had to be sacrificed! And Historias child would have to be sacrificed, which may well have been Erens own child! So Erens only option to save the woman he loved, was to destroy the world. THIS explains it all. This explains his weird manners after the time skip. It was a man fighting to save the only thing he loved in the world. Historia became the replacement of his mother. He needed to save Historia from the same fate as his mother. So what about all he said to Armin about loving Mikasa? A total lie! Why? Because if he told the truth to Armin, and it got out, the whole world would hate Historia and her child, as she was the reason for the destruction of the world. Yes, Eren loved Mikasa also, but as a sister, not as a lover. Because they grew up together as siblings! Remember also that the whole story is told from the perspective of Armin who is possibly the narrator. This is why we as an audience know nothing of Eren and Historia except for small hints here and there, because Armin knew nothing! Eren said to Armin he loved Mikasa as a way to tell a half-truth to an old friend, and also show Mikasa some kind of "acknowledgement" in return for her life long loyalty. Eren loved someone, but it was not Mikasa! It was Historia all along! But he had to die with this secret to keep his child and Historia safe. And also Eren said he was an idiot and did not know what he was doing. That is just like pleading insanity in front of a court. Eren knew all along what he was doing, but he could just not tell his old friend Armin the truth and risk Historia. So, with this new interpretation it all makes total sense. Eren choose to kill 80% of the world to save his own child, and his lover. It totally makes sense. And it might very well be the most powerful story ever told.

I think people are misunderstanding the ending. Ymir initially sought the tree as a refuge from her barbaric society that was literally hunting her with arrows. However, the boy at the end sought the tree out of curiosity and freedom. While you can’t have permanent peace, the ending credits proved that the peace talks worked and kept civilization at peace for multiple generations. The *significant change* is that the boy already had freedom and sought the founder for different reasons than Ymir, who never had freedom to begin with. The cycle was broken, and thus, the events of the story *do not repeat for the future generations.* Giving them a chance at an even greater period of peace.

I began watching it back in 2013 when it was a series still unfolding, and I've kept up with it through all these years. And now, having reached the end, I'm struck by a profound sense of emptiness. The tears haven't been many, but the experience is undeniably bittersweet and filled with a lingering melancholy. The finale has echoes of Code Geass, but the impact of Attack on Titan resonates on a much deeper level for me. It's as if a significant phase of my own life has drawn to a close as I've watched these characters reach the end of their journeys. Letting go of them feels almost impossibly hard. Each nostalgic, tragic, and soul-stirring scene that was depicted has left a lasting mark, but what truly weighs on me is the future. Even though they experienced happiness, grew old, and met peaceful ends, there's a sorrow in acknowledging that their time has passed and with it, a piece of the world they shared with Eren. This portrayal of the future invokes a profound existential reflection. Consider the countless existences and narratives that have dissolved into the annals of history, with Eren and his comrades now amongst the forgotten. Entire generations who lived, loved, and suffered are now just echoes in the ruins or foundations they left behind. Their personal histories, like those of our cherished characters, will likely vanish, their names and tales becoming mere whispers that the winds of time fail to carry forward. it adds a layer of heartbreaking feeling to their story-knowing that their time with him was limited to less than 15 years, depending on who it was. Just a brief chapter in the entirety of their new long lives. It's heartbreaking to consider that as time passed, the vividness of his face and voice might have faded even in Mikasa's memories, making it seem as if he were becoming more of a distant dream than a reality they once lived. This brief intersection of lives in the grand tapestry of their world makes the end that much more impactful. The happy scenes of their childhood, bring a stark, aching clarity to the fleeting nature of their relationships, and the realization that the moments we often take for granted are, in fact, incredibly finite and precious. Eren wanted his close friends to cherish these moments and create even more in a new world, that he created for them... Reflecting on Eren, his break down was a biggest surprise to me in this ending. Realizing that he was, in essence, still just a naive 19 year old struggling to find a solution, he just couldn't find a better way to resolve all of this mess. People may have found his emotional breakdowns funny, but these moments actually reveal the enormous burden he carried as an ordinary individual compelled to make extraordinary sacrifices for the sake of his friends' futures. It underscores the depth of his character and the immense pressure he faced in his quest to secure a brighter reality for those he cared about. He sacrificed whole world for them, but they chose to safe the world over him.. In the final episodes dialogues between Armin and Zeke, they touch upon their most personal memories, happiness, and raise similar questions that become a kind of answer to the search for the meaning of life and all the efforts they made. For them, to have lived was not in vain, if only for such moments. Their lives held meaning, even if only for those simple memories. Eren is ready to endlessly destroy humanity in these cycles, all for the happiness of Mikasa and Armin. And what was most touching to me, is that his happiness is just as simple, and it lies in the happiness of those he loves.. This is a tragic story of a ordinary boy trapped by the inherent vices of human nature, compelled to engage in the very act-war-that humanity perpetually initiates. His story is a somber illustration of the cycle of violence that often defines human history and the individual lives caught in its tumultuous waves. Perhaps wars are an inevitable fate of the human race, similarly to how Eren's destiny will never allow him to connect with his friends. This is a tale of the sorrow of fate, where Eren falls into its terrible captivity. A tragedy that leads us through the thorns of fate, where the hero becomes hostage to a false freedom, it becomes his burden, and the meaning of his existence intertwines with the purpose of freeing Ymir from her chains. The greatest sadness of this story is not found in the military horrors, but in the relentless fact of fate: Eren and his loved ones are destined to become victims of eternal separation. Especially Mikasa. They are fated to remain apart, even in the afterlife - if such a place exists, Eren is destined for hell.. Fate denies them the joy of a simple life under the same sky.

Personally I feel Mikasa's choice to keep the scarf and move on showed exactly that she wasn't a slave to her love for Eren, unlike Ymir with King Fritz, she chose to kill Eren, end his suffering out of love and hold onto her memories and cherish them. It felt like actual growth. If Eren got his way, and she threw it away, it would feel like she was doing what he wanted, not what she wanted, which was the entire point. She was free to cherish his memory and allow him to rest finally after a literal lifetime of pain and suffering. He wanted her to live a long life and she did, but on her own terms.

Idk, it's tricky. The near-suffocating bleakness of the reality presented by and themes embedded in the story really do clash with the surreal, positive/happy-go-lucky vibe that the characters embrace in the wake of literally billions of people being horifically slaughtered, which has quite a disembodying effect. It feels like a different kind story to what preceded it and that whiplash is what I think put a lot of people off from enjoying the ending. Despite it managing to maintain a respectable level of cohesion in carrying on its dread-inducing themes and world, the tone does not reflect the severity of those aspects. I'm thinking specifically of how unaddressed the true fucking horror of it all was, despite their best efforts a true fucking tragedy took place that everyone seems almost content to move on from. All in all though, the ending is preddy gud, but honestly the tone was more Disney-esque if anything lol

@SJ-tb2wq it's bittersweet dial-up to 11, I think, people might never comprehend how much shit Eren has gone through since he's just a kid, but he did bring peace and a long life to his loved ones but not to himself, and the most free he's been in end is probably him breaking down in front of armin, no longer need to put up a facade and play 4d chess, admitting he doesn't want to die and go to hell or have mikasa forget about him feels so human and we can see that crying screaming childish Eren return for a second and that's just more heavy then I've imagined, having everyone except him to be free makes me just feel super depressed about how he did all this but got nothing for himself and has to die alone as the greatest villan ever

As tragic as this beautiful story is, I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful life and is at peace. Ofcourse we'd love a happy ending where Eren lived and could be with Mikasa, but that doesn't mean their love wasn't special. Ofcourse he desired to be with Mikasa and his friends but he truly believed in his own sacrifice for them. "The world is cruel, but I still love you". This perfectly encapsulates that the world broke them through the sacrifices they made but their love endured. Eren sacrificed his final years of happiness with Mikasa to stay and defend Paradis so his friends could live peaceful lives. Mikasa sacrificed her love to save what remained of the world, and also freed Ymir from the consequences of the sacrifice she could not make. Despite the cruelty of these sacrifices they loved eachother and what matters is their freedom, resilience & choice to rise above that pain and see the beauty in the world, their love. His love for Mikasa affirms though this world does not seem worth living in, there are people worth living for. It eases the heartache of saying goodbye knowing despite the dark path Eren went down, he still lived a meaningful and fulfilling life where he loved and was loved both in the paths with Mikasa and the world. "The world is cruel, but it's also beautiful". This is because of the love Eren and Mikasa had for eachother. They were eachothers constant companion and peace.

As dramatic as it may be, since the day before the show ended, I haven’t had much appetite or even thirst. It’s almost like I’m mourning the end of this show. Following this show since S1 and immediately going to the manga, waiting every month for its release, waiting every Saturday for the new episodes to watch and compare to the manga, all of that has come to an end after 10 years of investment. This series is extremely bitter sweet. I’ve known this since the manga ended 2 years ago but to see how Eren didn’t get what he wanted in his 1 life hurts me to my core. How Mikasa didn’t get the 1 thing she wanted. They both didn’t get what they wanted until they both died. That’s something that it’s extremely hard to accept. And with the new ending, Itterashai, they both just wanted to grow flowers together. UGH I can’t. Shoot your shot people. Dont miss out on what you could have. This series is my all time favorite media. I’m forever grateful to Isayama and everyone involved for visualizing this generational masterpiece.

Just my opinion, after considering every single factor and understanding Mikasa's character I do not think what we saw at the end was Mikasa and Jean instead it was likely to be just Armin accompanying her and visiting the grave here and there. The show started with Eren, Mikasa and Armin, it only makes sense that they show the ones who consistently visited his grave were both Mikasa and Armin. The fact that after Eren told her to forget about him and she ended up saying that she can't just shows how loyal and attached she was with him to the point the idea of being with someone else will ruin that moment they had, still it could be true that it might be Jean but seeing her in the coffin still wrapped with the scarf around her neck just proves to me that she couldn't let eren go and forget about him. As for the baby, could be adopted 😅.

Erens abilities allowed him to see all possible outcomes to all possible options. Through it all, HE decided that the best option was what he did which is why he could never swerve off it, as it all led to worse outcomes for him. Completely agree, it would have been a very strange coincidence if the one particular path that he HAD to take happened to save most of the people he loved (which was a very unlikely scenario in the grand scheme of things). As someone who just finished AoT, this is exactly what I thought. The moment I realized that what guides all subjects of Ymir is fate is when everything made sense to me. A broken girl was cursed to suffer for 2 thousand years, from the moment the titan power touched her, with all following events being necessary for her liberation. In a sense the real villain that no one saw was that Titan entity all along, which is nothing else but raw power. The credits scenes show that humans would find power again, through their own inventions or through divine-like powers such as the titan lore, and it is that which brings them doom again.

How can he stay alive when his fate is sealed? If he can change that then what else can he change? Please answer my question
@EmmanuelLKD

I think a good way to look at it is that Ymir is the one behind the strings who also wanted Eren to go on this journey. She could have been the one feeding him that future as the best possible outcome that also aligns with Eren’s desire of freedom since she IS the founder She knew that Eren had a strong desire to be free and in a way took advantage of that desire as fuel for her own goals of being free from her bondage to King Fritz. In a way, Eren is like a pawn for her plans. Eren did want to have a choice to be with Mikasa forever, but he knew for himself that wasn’t the best choice even if he did want it. He desired freedom as how it looked like in Armin’s book and sought to achieve that freedom for the people of Paradis. He could have easily just stayed and lived the rest of the 4 years of his life with everyone else, but he knew it wouldn’t be the best choice either cuz if he didn’t activate the Rumbling then everyone on the island would perish from Marley

This definitely includes Titan-users because they only have a lifespan of 13yrs (eren, armin & even reiner and others) Seeing how Eren’s character developed, it’s obvious that he knew the cycle wasn’t gonna stop. He couldn’t care less anymore for the future generations of humanity, the only thing that mattered now was HIS FRIENDS’ FUTURE. I was recommending AoT to people but now that the series at the end has no other solution than world genocide as a method of creating peace is such a bad ending from a moral standpoint (and also very amime, how many times are they the Mangaka gonna use this?). Not to mention this could have been way more realistic and interesting if the enemy was just a very powerful Marley not the whole world! Furthermore we end with a story with no bad guys just that the suffering and hate of all eldians is a toxic love/relationship that had to be severed and they use the protagonists to do it! I hope we get a better story in the future than this!! PS I appreciate AoT for all its positives ( storytelling, philosophy and world building) but it's ending is so unrealistic, filled with plot holes!

In my opinion I interpret the scene where Mikasa isn't alone at the tree but there with other people as it being her, Armin and everyone else who helped stop eren visiting his resting place every so often along with maybe Armin's kids/family. Rather than it being Mikasa finding someone new I'd like think her attachment to eren was just that deep just like Ymir's as neither would ever love another. Representing in a way true love.

falco is jaw+beast because of Zeke's blood, and beast titans are animals. Aves (birds) are animals. So, Falco became a bird because he needs to have a strong jaw as he's also a jaw titan

@@kapilsaxena8097But it’s not random. A few examples, in season 3 eren learns the ability to harden by drinking a Titan fluid bottle that says “armour” on it (there is also a theory that Rod’s one might have said colossal on it since he told historia if she drank it she would become a really strong Titan, and it explains why he became such a large pure Titan). Also, Annie later mentions Marley made her ingest things to gain more abilities such as hardening. In other words ingesting spinal fluid from one of the nine makes you inherit powers of that particular Titan.

It's definitely better than the manga, but lmaoooo masterpiece is a stretch. Still turned a story whose main theme for over a decade was war, hatred, and cycles of violence into a last second botched attempt at a love story. Still absolutely destroys erens character where he had no free will, no drive, no motivation, no fight, just nothing, and blindly follows ymirs plan like a puppet. Still makes all the deaths and sacrifices from all the scouts in the past useless and practically meaningless. Still makes the death of erens mother pointless. And more... masterpiece lmao 😂 straight coping

honestly, this anime is a must watch for anyone with a heart, no matter their age, gender, beliefs, or whatever, this truly is a beautiful and poetic piece of art, and when you take your time to let the idea that the autor is trying to transmit sink in, it's almost as if a foggy mist start to clear inside your mind, and you start to perceive life with more gratitude, you start giving value over simple, daily stuff... to be honest I can't even properly put it into words... the emotions you feel after finishing it, especially if you waited this long throughout all those years. this anime is just beautiful, it's not just entertainment it's art.
