I have still learned how to change the strings. 😂 But I am an average guitarist.

Not even close to enough time or pressure to take care of a belly bulge. Figure how long it took for the wood to dry out enough to deform under the pressure of the strings. I have done this on several acoustics. Humidify before doing anything. I use a 3/4 inch board to clamp to the top, with a lamp and a way to keep the heat warm but not hot. Sometimes for a couple days. Then leave it clamped/humidified and leave it be for a week or two.

Would a c clamp help do you think? I gave up on this project but might take it back up again

@@Artofshred23 Understanding that most acoustics do not have a flat top. Lay a straight edge across the top behind the bridge and check the bulge you should be able to fit 3 dimes under each side (approx. 3/16") and not have the straightedge be able to rock. If there is a lot of space with the dimes in place it will take much time and effort to repair. Usually when there is belly bulge there is also signs of the bridge lifting but not always. Try to slide a piece of paper between the guitar top and the back of the bridge. If it goes underneath the bridge then you have another cause of high action. Regluing the bridge may help the bulge problem a little. This means removing the bridge carefully, cleaning the guitar top to bare wood and the bridge bottom and regluing using Tite-bond wood glue. These are not easy things to do and usually need special clamps. You should also check the braces under the top inside the guitar. Sometimes they will come partially unglued due to drying out. Get your hand in there and feel around see if any of them move or look inside with a mirror and check if any seem detached, usually towards the ends of the braces. Removing a bulge is NOT an easy task and takes a lot of patience and time. There is something called a "JLD Bridge Doctor" that when installed properly will remove some of the bulge, but first is to make sure no braces are loose and that the bridge is not lifting.

You know the $25 for a bridge doctor is well worth the money. Wood had a memory and more than not the belly will return.

This is wrong man, Buldge means too much humidity inside, You need to reduce the humidity, but what you're doing is you're adding more!

I'm doing a 12 string now and it was so dry I thought the wood would crumble. I had to rehydrate it before doing any repairs. So that shoots your theory out of the water.

Thanks for the info! I was just doing what I’ve seen on KZitem. This guitar is no longer in my hands. It was long gone before I even touched it. So sad :(

@@Artofshred23 is that necessary to put weight on the belly part? I have been facing the same problem since 4 years with that belly bulge is affecting on the distance between strings & fretboard. I have started the same procedure like you with keep the guitar in to the bag. Will it bulge again in future?

@@prajyot8002 it’s not necessary. Just something I did to help. It helped a little but I think I have to fix the parts inside that hold the belly down. The braces inside specifically.

@@prajyot8002 because it didn’t permanently fix the issue. Only temporary. The glue in the guitar came undone. The guitar was stored in a moist and hot basement before I received it.
