Dude Im not gonna lie, when I saw your part on the episode it was, kinda like... Life changing. I'd imagine it was something kinda like how the early ancient Greek scholars felt when they first traveled into Africa to learn from the Ancient Egyptians. like how Hippocrates felt about Imhotep. I as a life long musician, and a producer literally "didnt know you could do that". I could literally hear the "God Mode" in what I was hearing. What you did with just that sample should be put into a museum and/or burned into crystal and shot off into space. Like a martial art of music production, a programming language, ... You get my drift. One of the dopest things I ever seen/heard on youtube. EVER

I believe it might be an advantage in some sense. Making a really extreme rule for yourself (like only using a sample of a door for all sounds) forces you to think in different and creative ways and I believe that could in most cases turn into something half decent or better. And if not, you will probably learn some new stuff at least because you were forced out of your comfort zone. It's an interesting way to boost creativity and it's fun too!
@nmagain24
5 жыл бұрын
@@FH-ux4rf you are correct. When I was playing drums (in my "prime") sometimes when I would practice I would remove drums and or cymbals from the kit. It forces you to get more creative, with runs, fills, accents etc. Same principle. As a matter of fact, I didnt even think about it, (make the connection) until i read your comment. Hmmm damn.

@@FH-ux4rf I get more creative when I just pick these weird foley samples you can find in any library and tweak them in every possible way till something just happens. Then I find myself making drums and neuro basses using one sample. By the time I realize it, I already have a 20-30 seconds long concept drop that could potentially be turned into an actual drop and for an actual... If only I ever finished any my projects, ha! Edit: just watching the video I realized that's exactly what Au5's doing here lol

I found you through this collaboration with Andrew, and I was so impressed with you. The way you hyped the other musicians and reveled in their songs, your in-depth music production knowledge and skills, your incredible composition, and your genuine-ness was all striking! I have rewatched that video on Andrews channel about a dozen times, and today I finally made it over to your channel to check out your tunes. Again, I was blown away by the quality and depth of your music! My favorite music to listen to is emotional and complex, involving many layers with multiple voices and involved instrumentation. What's absolutely mind blowing about this challenge is that Au5 not only did it with the door sample alone, he also did it mostly with Ableton stock effects and samplers instead of relying a lot on fancy expensive VST effects or samplers, meaning that he could have produced most of the song just with stock Ableton and no VSTs. Just an incredible understanding of sound design and Ableton stock plugins' capabilities.

This video is proof that there is no such thing as a "shitty sample". Thank you very much for doing this. It's very inspiring. Also, I'm working on a beatbox cover from a famous Gorillaz song, where 100% of the sounds is originated from my voice and beatboxing, but you won't notice it because tons of processing. That trick with the filter and distortion and resonator for the bell sound is exactly what I needed right now :D hope you don't mind if I take inspiration from that (: it's not even on Ableton, I swear!
