Fresh from the showcase for some of our APs. This is a special edition because these are special edition watches. The Audemars Royal Oak, it’s something that is highly sought-after especially in the stainless steel model that I've got here. It has a bluish color, a little bit of a grayish color, a little bit of a purplish color. It’s one of the most beautiful dials I've ever seen, and I really enjoy the Royal Oak in specialized colors and specialized styles.
I'm not the biggest fan of a lot of Gerald Genta designs because they could be a little bit softer, a little bit too strange. They can be a little bit odd. But the Royal Oak gets it just right - not too thick of a watch and of course that unbelievable and unmistakable defined bracelet that nobody else in the world makes. When you see the AP you know what it is because you see it on the bracelet.
I'm gonna go ahead and put this watch on because I love it so much. But the one watch that I would absolutely adore is this frosted Oak. Now this is, we actually have one of 200 made in the world.
The frosted Oak, the Florentine design which is a hand made case and bracelet with that diamond-like tip coating on this vibrating tool, and it can only be done by hand. It was introduced by a lady, Caroline Bucci. It’s a Florentine design from many, many, many years ago, actually you would say several hundred years ago, in which they hand hammered the surface of whatever material they were working on to give it a shimmer, also to make the coating more durable.
It doesn't scratch, it also doesn't catch on materials like you would think. It doesn't have any sharp edges so you're not gonna catch it on your really nice clothing. You’re not gonna damage anything that you rub it up against. It's smooth but yet it’s extraordinarily durable.
And let’s be honest, what is it supposed to mimic? It’s supposed to mimic a diamond-encrusted piece without actually having those diamonds. You don't have the cost of all of those diamonds and all those small pieces that you would have to actually hand-lay into these. This is what brought this back, because I think as we all know in popular culture, the diamond encrusted or iced out pieces are very, very popular. But for people who don't want those diamonds and wanted something a little bit more artistic in design, this is it.
The frosted or white, solid white gold - solid white gold bracelet, solid white gold case - it does have an extraordinarily good feel. It's heavy as you would expect it to be. It’s got a purple dial - you don't find this color purple in literally any other watch in the world. I don't think that I've seen another watch with this color. Literally, ever. Even from Royal Oak, this color has been produced in the past but it's not the same. Believe me they're wildly different. To have a piece like this in my hand, one of two hundred in the world is absolutely amazing. I think one of the things that really shocked me the most about this Royal Oak is that when I first saw it in the pictures you may feel like “Oh that's not gonna be something I want to wear,” “That's not gonna be something that looks good on me.”
I just want to show you - I’m gonna take off this other piece because it’s gorgeous - this is the stainless steel piece that we currently have in our inventory. This is the frosted oak that we have in our inventory. When I put this watch on the first time…I was blown away. It actually looks proper even in casual form. It’s not ostentatious, for the most part. I think anything that has a Florentine design is designed to be a little bit ostentatious, but I don't feel like it's over-the-top. Sure, can you see it from a long way away? Absolutely. Can you identify it immediately? Absolutely. But for me, I don't usually wear flashy things like this. This watch just does it for me. And in fact actually, I would prefer to wear it without sleeves just because I think the watch looks better on its own. It’s defined, it’s elegant. It can be worn dressed up, it can be worn casually, and that seems like something that would be counterintuitive for a watch like this. But I'm absolutely in love with it.
