Nice Royal Oak Even nicer when the original finish is fresh, this one seems a little dull and doesn't show it's true potential!

Anthony, another great review. It’s quite obvious you are smitten with that Royal Oak. I have to admit, I agree with you in that the design is classic. I’m wondering when it was manufactured? Pink gold is something that hasn’t been commonly used in at least 25 years (that or I’m still living under a rock). It is a beautiful example of haute horology. But for me, the price tag would keep me from ever wearing it for fear of damaging it. Thanks to Bernard Watch too for letting you review it. All the best!!!-Mark

The movement is NOT in house, it's based on a Fredric Piguet 1185. AP has yet to produce their own in-house integrated automatic chrono movement. The Offshores use $500 Dubois Depraz CAM lever chrono modules (also found in many Tag Heuers) stacked on top of their 3120 in house movement, which is laughably tiny for Offshore/41mm RO cases. They also have notorious reliability issues.

The pink gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch is a beautiful watch. The AP dial, case and bracelet are beautiful. I will knickname this watch Fort Knox gold brick. I will rather buy this gold AP Royal Oak for $50,000 then buying a $50,000 Mercedes benz E Class because like a jewelry I can pass the AP to my children and grand children, the watch only require service every one or two years and I can store the watch in a bank safety box and gold last forever, the 5000 years old gold mask of Tutankhamun still exist today.

Amazing watch.... The solid gold is of course very impressive.... Not for me personally, but.... I appreciate what it is.... I'm not sure I need to flaunt that sort of ultra wealth, but again, just my humble opinion.... Yeah, I feel like I could give a Royal Oak offshore a good home.... Hahah! A stainless one... If I never told you, I'm from Pewaukee Wisconsin.... A village maybe 20 miles west of Milwaukee.... My job moved me to Eau Claire Wisconsin a few years ago... Unless the compensations are really otherworldly, be it money, or whatever, don't move to Eau Claire for your job....

Great review, no doubt a fine machine, but nonetheless I find it homely (understated but still garish) and not worth the price tag even for guys who can afford them. To people who say this is an overrated watch, you're wrong. AP Royal Oak is the best of all watches. I've seen everything in its class and it's decidedly superior. It _KILLS_ the Nautilus, which is always underwhelming, as well as the Vacherson Overseas & Piaget Polo. I don't care for the Offshore models, which are actually ugly. Not into the gold either - the Stainless variations are simply gorgeous. When I say gorgeous, I mean it. They are absolutely the nicest-looking watches I've seen.

People are knocking this watch because it's a lot of money and gold. I'm laughing my ass off. Richard Mill uses Damme plastic. Okay ceramic plastic whatever you want to call it and velcro straps. and there is a huge markup on his watches double triple the cost of original list price.So much money you could buy an executive home with it. patek Philippe they mark up their watches as well and they're ugly as s***. The bracelet cannot be compared to AP. And the looks I just beautiful compared to attack put them side-by-side and you will see. AP to me as a bargain

I think people say it's not good-looking because they can't afford it. Or that girly men that like little feminine watches. That is the most beautiful masculine watch that I see the bracelet is stunning I bought my first Rolex Daytona last year. While I like that watch it is way too small for a man with the rest of my size. I absolutely love the 42 mmmm gold and platinum offshores. but those watches next to let's say a patek Philippe 5980 and it just knocked the crap out of it and looks

Hate to give a contra argument on a comment, but nonetheless not everybody collects watches, thinking on resale value or as collateral when facing bankrupcy. (which is where I'm heading anyways) I collect watches that I like, not so much based on price, brand or the ability to hold value. Cause, the fact is that most people won't even know if you're wearing an uber expensive watch or not, by just looking at it. Unless that person is into watches, just like you.
@michaelhayward107
6 жыл бұрын
Greg Arends don't know if you were replying to my comment? What you said is quite right, thats a good reason to collect. People nowadays tend to concentrate on post 1970's survivor brands and forget watch history. Collect what you like, for whatever reason you like.
