Thank you!!! This process also worked perfectly for my 2012 Audi Q5 with 3.2L engine. Your advice to position the alternator with the back facing down and rotate it with the mounting flanges as you show in this video was very valuable. My alternator was difficult to get out, the ATF lines and the coolant hose were in the way. I would not have been able to get the alternator out any other way, but when I followed this video, I was able to change the alternator without disconnecting any hoses.

You could rebuild the old alternator, also... I think it would have been a great opportunity to replace the starter as well. Now you have to remove the alternator again, or the engine mount. Thanks for the hard work to put together this video, I'm sure it was more challenging than replacing the alternator:)

You are right. I wasn't just ready to replace the starter yet. I may need to replace it too soon.

@@ThatAfricanGuy usually starter let's you down without any notice... If you are lucky enough, might happen at home, the sad part is that you can only figure out it's gone when you wanna start the engine... If you get strangled far away from home, could cost you a lot. Sometimes tapping with a hammer could help it start, but the location it's very inconvenient and hard to reach. You might be able to change the starter with only removing the passenger wheel, plastic cover and heat shield only. But having the alternator out would be a breeze. Anyway, I honestly appreciate your work, your editing work! Some things might never occur to my car, still enjoying your every video!

There are many reasons why your car would not want to start. The best way to approach this is to scan the engine for faults, which should point you in the right direction. The last time I had a crank but no start situation, it was my charcoal cannister purge solenoid valve. You may try to disconnect the feed hose from the valve as shown in the video at the following link to see if this is the culprit: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rnipvqNthqKCgaQ

The positive wire from alternator is connect to the starter? Or it's different plus terminal?

Must be different. The B+ connects to the battery positive.

More car trouble? I feel bad for you, all these problems which come up. Maybe you should take apart that old alternator and see what’s up. It could be something easy to solve like a stone which pinged up from the road and jammed it. That noisy alternator needs new bearings and maybe same for the jammed one. If you find someone who can fit bearings you could end up with two repaired alternators ready to sell on.

Past 200,000 miles with half of that on our roads and extreme conditions here, with my aggressive driving, I do not complain at all. I think I would be ok with anything failing on my 2005 A6 3.2 because I have abused it in many ways and have used it enough to my satisfaction. 😂 This car is tough.

I had a hard time replacing the 2009 3.2 V6 Audi alternator. It seemed like giving birth. Even after removing some things, the alternator STILL really didn’t want to come out. What a PITA !!!!!!! I honestly will watch this video to see how he does it. I love African Audì DIY guy!

When it appears that your alternator is bad, sometimes it is a worn out serpentine belt, or a bad tensioner.
